The Red Prince is a Boss in Remnant 2. The Red Prince is a powerful Fae that inhabits Losomn. He demands payment in Crimson King Coins when visited, opening dialogue options for players. Players can always choose to fight, though if they do not have enough coins that will be their only option. Paying the Red Prince will result in a different outcome, granting a Mod (see below).

Bosses are the ultimate Enemies as they present a more challenging battle than Enemies or "Elite" Enemies. They are usually found guarding special locations or items, and some of them are important to the Lore and main Story of the game.

Remnant 2 The Red Prince Strategy Writeup

The Red Prince is a powerful fae, and has several tools to take both a ranged and a melee fight. His hulking figure doesn't limit his movement speed, he can move quickly around the battlefield, even teleport around it. His massive sword deals damage, and can inflict Burning status effect.

During the fight, The Red Prince can create copies of himself, that have their own health bar and can perform both ranged and melee attacks. Players should focus them first, to avoid being overwhelmed.

While his health bar has been removed by a 50% approximately, The Red Prince will create a Fire Cyclone, that engulfs the battlefield and will shrink progressively. It only leaves the circular platform in the middle as the only area not engulfed by fire. After a while it will dissipate. Note that during this section, The Red Prince will fight inside the circle in a mostly-melee oriented way.

Attacks & Counter

Attack Counter
Fire Projectiles: The Red Prince creates projectiles in front of him, and then shoots them. As soon as they are materialized, dodge.
Red Cyclone: The Red Prince, elevates in a fire vortex and lunges to the ground with force. It creates a fire cyclone that starts shrinking. Stay on the round platform in the middle of the arena. After a while it will dissappear.

for anyone who walked into the fight without enough coins and selected the top option which insults him, if you don't attack the boss and let him kill you he wont become hostile immediately and you can return later with the 3 coins that he needs. just make sure that after you let him kill you that there is no fog wall and you should be good to go!

"NOTE: For this to work the Gilded Chambers must spawn in the same seed as the DLC content, so this armor is not obtainable in the one-shot version of the DLC."
I have had the gilded chambers spawn in the one shot. So this fact is just a lie.

if you kill the mad king, and then visit the red prince while choosing the coins options (with enough coins ofc), when you get back to the mad king throne if the scribe is still alive, you'll find the red prince and the scribe in the room.
The red prince will then give you a crimson guard armor set (heavy armor set) very similar to the red prince outfit.

If you talk to him while wearing the crown, he gets pissed and doesn't offer the choice to pay tribute, lol

"You dare fashion a simulacrum of me... foolish. Pitifully so.
Unlike the king, I do not suffer imposters. For this offense, you shall offer tribute in blood!"

                  • Fight has what they obviously wanted to be "Cool flaming duel" but is just poor, lazy design becuase you're forced into an arena smaller than Capra demon broom closet and if you use explosive weapons or anything that isn't melee you're just dodging the entire and maybe getting one shot off every so often. Lame

LORE: Based on the item descriptions of the things he drops, we can put some interesting lore together about this guy.

It seems that he is the child of the One True King. The mother was one of the Fae- identity unknown, but my money's on Nimue. The King had hoped that a child born of both himself and a Fae might serve as a bridge between himself and the people he ruled, but that's... not how it worked out. He was volatile and foul-tempered, and also utterly convinced that he belonged on the throne. He inherited the "worst traits of both sides," as the Bloody Steel Splinter item description indicates. It is no surprise that the Prince attempted a coup. After that failed coup, the King opted not to kill him; this may have been pure sentimentality, but it seemed that he made a habit of allowing a lot of things slide, such as his chef's tendency to trick him into eating the flesh of intelligent creatures.

The Red Prince's parentage was a well-kept secret, but at least some fae knew of it.

This fight made me fall in love with the Assassin's Dagger. It's really fun to knife-fight this guy when the fire cyclone turns it into a close-quarters engagement. His tactic of retreating into his fire curtain really helps you get more mileage out of the bleeding ailment from charge attacks.

You can give tribute to skip the fight in hardcore mode, it’s not a true death. I tested it backed up a save to the cloud on the PS5 first.

alchemy stone makes this fight a lot easier, especially if you already have a source of life leach. this boss doesn't really hit super hard and he usually can't just 1 tap you in any way shape or form even at half hp (at least, not bellow apoc from my experience). This lets you turn being cursed into an advantage and can be paired with other effects that give bonuses when you are debuffed.

I encountered him again after getting his crown the first time, and sadly he does not care at all that you're wearing his crown in front of him lol

such a fun boss, shame using the upscaler makes his sword almost completely invisible during the fire cyclone with the orange on orange, makes it really hard to dodge unless you can turn it off, specs permitting :/

After finishing the game on apocalypse I can say that this is easily my favourite boss in the entire game. A lot of fights seem cool at first, but stop being fun on apocalypse, this one gets even better.

                                    • Anonymous

You can buy the ring from Nimue that makes you immune to curses if you are having a hard time fighting him. It does help a lot.

                                      • This guys is a very heavy melee fight. He has a flame dagger shot at the beginning of the fight, which can be dodged. He also has the sword slash, the same attack as the teleporting knights you encounter in the map. He acts VERY similar to the teleporting knights, except he is MUCH more aggressive in getting into melee range.

If you have good close quarters weapons, like shotguns, flamethrowers, or melee, this will be fairly easier than someone trying to play a purely ranged build. It obviously can still be done(I did it with a sniper rifle and flamethrower as a Hunter/Medic.) *I WOULD RECOMMEND A CLOSE QUARTERS LOADOUT IF YOU HAVE A GOOD ONE!!*

His attack style takes some getting used to, as he has a few different sword combos, some that has short windups, while others have really long windups, which can easily cause you to dodge too early on a lot of his attacks if you tend to panic dodge. The hardest part of this fight is easily once he hits roughly 50% and summons a flame tornado. You MUST get to the middle of the main platform, otherwise you will be killed by it if you are outside the circle when it closes in.

This is the part that is PURELY MELEE ATTACKS from him. He will do a some single attacks, but many of his attacks will be 3-chain-combos, and he has multiple combo styles. So dodging these takes a little getting used to. He will occasionally teleport out of the fire bubble you are in, which gives you time to top off your health if you need. But when he teleports back in, he will do a very fast heavy melee attack. Everything he does is easily dodgable, you just gotta get the timings right. And his timings are strange because he attacks seem to have longer than average windup times.

He can easily be taken down to 50% during the first part, as he will love to try and stay close to you, unless he teleports away to do a flame dagger throw, or his sword flame slashes. But he will instantly teleport right back to you once he does, and start engaging in melee again. His clones can be ignored if they are far enough away, or you can deal with them with a couple shots. They don't pose very much danger, outside of just being a distraction.

                                        You got this!

For those who cannot find enough coins, once you spot Gilded Chambers, all the fixed Teleport Fae spawn will be replaced with Fae Soldier even in other maps. (Hasn't checked every map, but it surely does so for the one around Faelin Mural Piece in Beatific Palace) So, you cannot farm them by world stone.

Haven't checked if it does the same for other maps either, but when you go through Gilded Chambers, there will be a chance a random elite will spawn, you can find it simply with sound effects, very obvious. At least in Gilded Chambers, the elite can be heavy fae or teleport fae, and the spawn chance of elite at all is around one in three, very feeling based, also feels like clearing adds will help with the chance. But luckily, teleport fae will always drop a coin, so at least no RNG here.

Has anyone paid tribute while wearing full Fae Royal set? He strictly says that after he rewards us he also gives us death for being a foreigner.. Full set of Fae royalty might disguise us.

Crown of the Red Prince helmet is an extra drop, not alternative, you will still get Forlorn Fragment if you choose to fight.

in german he says something like: this is only 1/10 of what he should get. did try somebody to give him more ? since you can farm more then 3 coins if you reset the area.

Is he always there or is he an rng spawn? i dont recall him being there during my first playthrough, i might have missed a spot though. I wrapped a ribbon around the statues hands and got the item there

You can bait him to the stairs, and he will try to melee you instead of firing the projectiles. It helps me bring him to 40% health before he calls his clone.

I’m the challenger archetype and I’m only like level 7 and as soon as the match started, i rushed him, then I hit LB+RB to activate my juggernaut ability and beat the **** out of him with my sword and killed him in seconds…good luck to those who struggle with this one, remember to upgrade your weapons prior, buy some consumables, and use the most fire resistant armor you got. Also there’s a guy in ward 13 between cass and doctor who will sell you a fire ring to help with fire resistance too along with increasing your own fire damage output.

He keeps healing during the fight and I don't understand why. It looks like there are little green balls floating towards him, but I don't know where they're coming from and I don't know how to stop it. He's gone from under half health to completely full in about ten seconds, just from healing.
