Remnant 2 Abomination Strategy Writeup

The Best Tips for Abomination:

  • Focus on destroying armor first, as it uncoveres boss weakspot
  • On arena there are bombs - destroying them in Abomination vicinity will stagger it.
  • N'Erud Zombie will acompany this boss.

This boss is a powered up version of the Corpse Ball, but don't let your guard down because of that. There are also explosives littered on the floor of the arena that can stagger the boss. It has three phases which will be described below:

Phase 1: This functions mostly the same as a Corpse Ball, although some of its attacks will throw out a variety of timed explosives or balls of muck that build up and inflict Suppression. During this phase, you'll want to shoot at the metal plates to reveal the explosives underneath. Destroying the explosives will expose its core and stagger it for a few moments. The armor will regenerate, but the explosives will not, so we suggest you destroy at least one of them before Phase 2 starts.

Phase 2: This phase begins when the boss beelines for one of the pipes on either side of the arena. It will restore any armor you destroyed and enemies will rise from the ground to distract you while the boss reemerges (they can be ignored, the boss one-shots them). Once it reemerges, it will begin rolling around the arena, running over anything in the way and occasionally lobbing timed explosives and muck at you. After a few laps, it'll then beeline straight at you. If you can make it hit a wall, it'll be stunned for a few moments (normally long enough to to pop off one of its armored plates). It will repeat this a few times before rolling to the nearest pipe and repeating this until the last phase.

Phase 3: At first glance, nothing seems to be different. It will come out of a pipe and run up to you, trying to do one of its phase 1 moves and after a while will move to phase 2 again. Things change when it stops rolling however, as it will then begin floating up into the air and hurling scrap at you. After it gets bored of that, it will release a blast of psychic energy that can hit the entire arena, one-shotting most builds on higher difficulties (or when it has the Vicious perk). This blast can be dodged. After the blast, it will run into a pipe and repeat this cycle until one of you die.

Attacks & Counter

Attack Description Counter
Same attacks as the Corpse Ball, augmented with timed explosives and muck that inflicts Suppression. Keep distance to avoid getting hit.
Marathon Abomination rolls around arena and finishes by charging straight at you. Roll to the side to avoid getting hit. Destroy bombs when he is near them to stop this attack.
Repair Abomination runs to a nearby sewer opening for a few seconds while N'Erud Zombies spawn in. After a few seconds, it'll emerge with all of it's armor repaired. You can't really stop it from repairing, so just wait for it to come back out. However, any explosives you destroy stay destroyed.
Possessed  Starts levitating with a purple aura, and starts telekinetically throwing debris as projectiles to you. It will end this attack with a massive psychic explosion. Be ready to dodge or use walls to take cover.
Slam It makes a loud screech and makes a high jump, attempting to crush you underneath. The jump is quite tall so it gives you enough time to run away or dodge.

This worked for me on Apocolypse. Strategy: Dodge/run, Firestorm spam to hold him for dps and mod power generation. Repeat because Firestorm comes back sometimes before the last one is over!
Archon primary, Medic (for mod power generation)
Light roll (green) to dodge and run
Participation medal (to dodge and run)
      Shard Banded Ring (mod damage)
Bisected Ring (Inifinite stamina to run/dodge)
      Zohee's Ring (mod power)
      Momentum Driver (run/dodge)
      Blackmaw AR-47 Firestorm and Refunder
Enigma (doesn't matter much), Spirit Healer

Summoner's Reaver pet is so strong it can actually knock the boss out of it's rolling moves and can stagger it constantly. Makes the fight a lot easier!

This is one of the EASIEST bosses in the game...UNTIL it gets skullcracker amongst its suffixes then it becomes one of the hardest bosses.

          • I cannot recomend the double barrel shotgun enough, it is probably one of the best weapons to deal with chunky enemies like this, add firestorm mod to get it stuck during its escape phase which will leave it in passive escape mode for 10s+, then add bandit+10 mutator to your shotty and you can get between 3 and 7 shots in quite often, it does very chunky damage if you have damage/weakness build, managed to half it in a single firestorm on nightmare because bandit was good and let me do a 7 shot volly into weakpoint which made the fight very easy

took a few tries but beat him on apocalypse. spammed a bunch of fire and abused how firestorm can pull and keep bosses stationary.

              engineer 10 flamethrower
talisman of the sun amulet (+fire and burn dmg)
white pawn stamp ring (-mod power req)
              shard banded ring (+mod dmg)
              bonesaw with firestorm
any secondary + mod works, i didn't use secondary at all except to shoot skewer 2.0s

my other two rings were probability cord and black cat band but you can swap those

i didnt worry at all about getting his armor off and exploding the charges, i just put down turret + overclocked, shot all my mods shot with long gun until firestorm is back. in my first dps cycle a second firestorm came back up before the first one ended

when he is rolling, forget the adds that spawn just focus on dodging what he throws out. try to make him crash where your turret can shoot.

there is a bug for the turret in phase 3. when he is levitating the turret will just shoot a wall so don't risk ur life trying to place a turret down thinking it cud end the fight

To avoid the melee combo, dodge forward and left towards him when in close proximity. You'll still have to time the last three attacks, but it'll completely avoid the flailing.
I'm heavy rolling. This is the most consistent way to avoid it, might even work for flopping if you can nail the timing.

If you're having trouble identifying when he'll do it: He'll normally walk towards you, then pause for about a second once close enough, that's when you dodge.

                • Anonymous

Just beat it on Apocalypse. Firestorm mod with archon class are good to cheese him, but some attacks can move him out and take firestorm along with him and burn you to death.

                  • Anonymous

Just beat it yesterday, here's what I learned.

Mine was Vicious, so it was eating chunks of my health bar even with full Leto mk. 2 armor. Even then, you still want to dodge since it's attacks are very strong.

This boss has 3 phases. Phase 1 is where you want to prep the boss for an easier phase 3. In Phase 1, it acts like a normal Corpse Ball, so I took advantage of that and blasted off the two plates and canisters on its 'front'. By the time you do that, it'll probably scurry off into a pipe and that's when Phase 2 starts.

In Phase 2, he goes rolypoly mode and is constantly throwing **** at you. Adds get summoned as well, but the boss usually runs them over before long. It'll do 3 to 4 laps before charging towards you at the end of its last turn, so watch out. Make it crash into one of the central pillars and blast off its armor like in Phase 1. He repairs his armor whenever he enters a pipe, but if you blow a hole in its side, then that stays for the rest of the fight.

Eventually you'll hit Phase 3, and this is where **** gets wild. Not only does he bring back his Phase 1 and 2 attacks, but he also can float in the air and throw **** at you. This lasts for a few moments though, because after he's done throwing things, he then releases a psychic explosion that can one shot you if you don't have a lot of damage reduction. After that, it'll come back down to the ground and usually scurries into a pipe. After that, it starts all over again.

I was a Medic 9/Handler 1 and it's took me almost 20 tries to beat this thing. Good luck everyone.

Terrible hit boxes and empathy make for a very infuriating experience,
He would hit me from a meter away at times and then during his roll he’d just phase through me randomly.

Whoever designed this boss fight and whoever decided it could get Vicious as a modifier need to be publicly shamed

The fact that so far the two bosses I've died the most to are a ball and a bunch of cubes moving in a predetermined pattern is doing great things for my self esteem.

Mine had elemental resistance which made him an extra pain in the ass to deal with. If you're using a controller forget about shooting the bombs on the floor, just stay in the center and focus on dodging the horseshit sniper level attacks. Any zambos caught on his roll will die in one hit. Running diagonally to the side and around the pillars is the best way to get some distance from it, but eventually he'll probably go for the jumping attack (with complimentary ******* roll catching aura) and go for the 4 hit combo afterwards. The combo can be dodged, it's hard, but if you dodge towards it and to the side he won't be able to track you, but that's a last resort tactic if you find yourself cornered or if the boss decides that he wants to beeline towards you and pop it because **** you in particular. Other than that, just keep in mind that despite its air explosion going through pillars graphically, you do need to stay in cover or it will one-hit you. Doggo was providential with this guy.

I wouldn't say it's a bad boss, but definitely cheap and tedious to deal with.

This fight wouldnt be the worst one in the game (for me) if he didnt constantly regen his armor or frequently run away to regen, and if his melee attack was balanced. Might be a skill issue, but i have not a clue on how to fully dodge his atleast 6 hit melee wombo consistently.
What I do to avoid damage easier is using engineer cheese which involves using heavy guns shorthop with the upgraded distance to not only dodge much faster than you normally can, but they also have wayyyy more i frames. Though, even then he can just roll punish you for dodging one of his swipes if you arent basically frame perfect.
Best to literally never get close to him (wormhole or the autododge can work, speed boosts are not fast enough sometimes unless you stack them) and hopefully you can burst down one of the tankiest bosses in the entire game into his last phase, otherwise you are in for a grueling endurance bossfight and god forbid you are on a higher difficulty/in multiplayer or both.
He still constantly runs and regens his armor, but he is far less dangerous in the final phase.

Pretty easy to cheese with the firestorm mod, he’ll get stuck in the tornado while rolling and you can burst him down. Just keep the tornadoes rolling and he’ll never move.

                                  • Anonymous

I dont know why the boss is getting so much hate, you can quite easily dodge his melee attack pattern if you time your dodge with the first "purple attack" , you can negate his rolling move either by destroying the mines which are all around or I noticed if you go anywhere except the middle of the arena that you can have him roll into you... ending his roll.
Shoot at the armor and the exposed core
The levetating phase is as simple as it gets, dodge the 2 projectiles and go behind a pillar for his shockwave.
Overall it was quite a fun boss

Insane melee hitbox, it just keeps comboing so youll have to dodge into him and out again. Also it can charge and fall off the map which is hilarious.

This boss design and concept is really great. You have to shoot the armor and explosives in other to expose it's core. The body regenerate when it rolls inside those awful pipe lines.

One of the truly worst bosses in video games; a complete pock-mark on an otherwise fun boss roster. Whoever made this should be genuinely ashamed of how awful their work is.

                                          • Anonymous

Me and a friend are trying this on Nightmare, our first run is going through N'Erud. This fight says its Optional, but our main quest tells us to go through a door behind him so optional is an odd choice of words..He has the Empathy modifier, so we cannot heal ourselves and neither of us is a Medic. Whoever thought this Modifier was a good idea should be fired.

                                            • Fun fight, but feel like the big fella is a little too aggro especially with those wide hitboxes of his, but then again I was in heavy armor, he'd probably be easier to dodge with lighter gear.

When it rolls around the circumference of the room, you can shoot the barrels dotted around the periphery to damage it and knock it out of the roll into a brief stun.

This boss has three unofficial phases:

The first phase is at the start of combat, when he hasn't taken much damage. THIS IS THE MOST DANGEROUS PHASE. You need to take off 1/4 or so of his health otherwise he won't stop chasing you down and trying to melee you. No, he WON'T try to roll around - he'll just straight up chase you around and try to melee you. His regular melee attack is a three-hit chain with quite a bit of horizontal distance and he recovers FAST. You WILL run out of stamina if you keep trying to dodge/run from him. Your best bet is to DPS him down so he enters his "rolling" phase.

Once he enters his rolling around phase, he won't do as many melee attacks. Try to catch him when he gets to end of his roll and DPS him down (attack the metal plates which will fall off and expose his weak points). Note that while rolling he can use two different attacks - a three-projectile spray attack and an explosive projectile attack. If you're busy dealing with adds be prepared to dodge these as he rolls by.

For the final phase, he'll often decide levitate and shoot projectiles at you or perform a powerful AoE attack. Cover blocks these, so just make sure to hide when he does it. The projectiles have good tracking, but you can just do something else productive while you wait for him to land (e.g. kill adds, loot ammo). Note that he will try to follow you around cover and he can catch you unawares if you don't look up.
