The Astropath is a Boss in Remnant 2. The Astropath is a combination of several powerful Specters of the once great Astropaths of the Drzyr. Bosses are the ultimate Enemies, as they present a more challenging battle than Enemies or “Elite” Enemies. They are usually found guarding special locations or items, and some of them are important to the Lore and main Story of the game.

Remnant 2 The Astropath Strategy Writeup

The Astropath at the start of the fight will throw energy balls at you and then try to get closer for a Melee Sweep, avoid the balls and keep your distance. If it gets too close dodge back before the sweep, note that it will advance slightly on attack, so don't roll too close. After a certain amount of life is lost it will retreat into a ball shape at the center of the world hologram and make a cutting field attack, the attack will leave safe spaces between the energy fields to stand on so dodge into them and keep shooting the ball. When enough damage is dealt, it will make an energy wave that you have to roll to avoid and then reform into the Specter, going back to its original attack pattern for a short amount of time. It will disappear again, this time separating into several Specters that attack throwing energy balls from the low ground, destroy them and dodge the balls to make him rematerialize. After that, it will switch between its states randomly (the ball form and the division into specters) until you kill it.

Attacks & Counter

Attack Counter
Energy Ball Throw: Fast with light damage. Specters summoned by the boss will shoot them too. Roll to dodge, or move out of their path. They do not track you after being fired
Energy Ball Summon: Summons a destructible orb that fires three slow energy balls with high damage. Shoot to destroy them, or avoid when they fire.
Energy Bomb: Pulls energy orbs out of the ground that will detonate after a few seconds. Move out of the radius.
Ball form: Will periodically turn into a ball of energy and go to the center of the arena. Attack with ranged attacks, and watch out for Force Field and Energy Wave
Force Field: When in ball shape, it will spin a series of red bands around the center of the room, which will eventually stop and pulse for heavy damage. Roll when it pulses, or walk to the safe parts to evade the area damage.
Energy wave: When in ball shape, it will rise into the air then emit a radial blast that will affect the whole room.  Roll beneath it to avoid being damaged.
Melee Sweep: When in specter mode, it will try to close the gap and make a diagonal attack with its spectral claws. Summoned Specters will also do this attack. Maintain your distance to avoid it since it's very short range, summons are fragile, so you can shoot them down before they get too close.
Summon Specters:  After about a quarter of its health, it will periodically summon smaller Specters to attack the player. At the midpoint of the fight, will disappear and summon eight specters, two at a time, before destroying them. After this point it will summon them much more often. Can be killed like any other Specter. Weapons that can target multiple enemies at once are advised.

Remnant 2 The Astropath Notes & Trivia and Gallery

  • While in the ball shape, the Astropath cannot be approached with melee attacks, but is very susceptible to mods that reapply damage or blights such as Firestorm, and Voltaic Rondure
  • Using Chilled Steam or having the Handler's Support Dog skill will grant extra movement speed, making the Force Field attacks easier to avoid
  • The combination of Black Cat BandRing of Crisis, and Generating Band provide a guaranteed protection if the Force Field and Energy Wave attacks connect on higher difficulties
  • The Astropaths are believed to be a Dryzr who were granted the gift of foresight and believe N'erud should not enter Alepsis-Taura, fearing the planet's and the species' destruction
  • Firestorm is excellent against not only the Astropath, but also its adds. Unlike a lot of bosses, this one will more or less be stuck in place during the firestorm, and the adds will also be sucked in, trivializing the latter half of this fight (adds are a huge problem on Apocalypse once its health drops below 50%)

I had no idea this dude even existed. I've beaten each world a dozen times over, played over 150 hours and have NEVER seen this thing. Come on RNGesus, spawn it in already xD

I've beaten my first Apocalypse run and this guy was the hardest boss aside from Venom in the entire game.

          Suffers from several issues.
The rotating beam attack may hit you despite you being outside the red damaging ray, maybe a desync issue or just bad programming?
Issues may ocur where the bombs that spawn upon you never cease to do so until stamina and health has run out.

In its entirety it has too much hp and rather badly designed spam attacks with questionable hitboxes. I suggest using a strong healer build and status vs this boss as you'll be hit a lot and rarely get the chance to fire.

I ****ing hate this boss. Every single time I have to reload or reapply buffs the boss uses his 1 shot orbs without fail...
