The Best Tips for Annihilation:

  • Boss has a weak spot that is easy to hit, therefore prioritize attacking it
  • Enigma is a great choice to destroy homing balls during both phases.
First Phase

At the beginning, it flies around the battlefield, uses its massive sword-like weapon to deal damage. Annihilation also affects the battlefield, using many AOE attacks and creating energy beams that persist on the field, dealing damage if players come into contact with them

Annihilation has a lot of attacks and flies constantly around the battlefield. Beware of its Impalement attack because it may entangle you, leaving players unable to move for a few seconds, until you manage to free yourself.

Note that energy beams will constantly drop onto the ground, forcing players to be aware of their surroundings and moving around as much as possible.

After you manage to deplete its health bar, Annihilation will enter its second phase, by "opening" his head and revealing what controls it.

Second Phase

During the second phase, Annihilation will recover all its health and even the battlefield will change into a futuristic landscape, with red neon colors.

Annihilation will stay on the same place during parts of the fight, moving little from its position at the far end of the screen, just to perform attacks. After taking enough damage, the battlefield will switch between the one on the first phase and the latter one, granting Annihilation an even wider moveset.

On the futuristic scenario, if you walk towards Annihilation you will fall to your death.

Six tendrils will appear on the ground, three on one side and three on the other one. They will be in vertical position, but may branch in a horizontal position to limit your movement. Always be mindful of this to avoid ending trapped.

When you manage to deplete Annihilation's health bar for a second time, a cutscene will trigger in which Clementine and The Keeper evaluate the situation.

Third Phase

After the cutscene, you will notice that Annihilation hasn't got a health bar, and will summon minions to attack you. It will remain in the middle of the battlefield, and the phase will end after either a set time or you/a party member take fatal damage. Using a Liquid Escape immediately ends this phase, reaching the end of the campaign.

Attacks & Counter

Attack  Description Counter
Phase 1 & 2
Sword Slam Annihilation leans backwards and then attacks from above with his sword. Dodge to either side. Recovery after this move gives enough time to land a headshot
Energy Slam Annihilation rises into the air and slams its right hand to deal an energy slam. Dodge as the shockwave approaches.
Impalement Annihilation nails its sword into the ground up to 3 times, each time releasing a wave of energy.  It can be followed by Ball Conjuration. Stay away from the sword and dodge forward to avoid the wave
Root Trap Annihilation tries to stop player from moving by rooting him to the ground. Rooting stops any movement and inflicts Data Corruption status. Attack can be avoided, but timing has to be very precise. Button mash the release button to escape from the trap. Luckily, attack itself deals very low damage.
Ball Conjuration Annihilation conjures 3 sets of balls, that attacks the player after several seconds Shoot the balls as soon as possible, as they deal very high damage. Damage can be avoided with i-frames from roll, but timing has to be perfect.
Sword Combo Annihilation attacks with his sword 2 times - starts from his right and then goes from his left. Attack covers wide area in front of him. Dodge away (1st attack) and towards him (2nd attack), be vary of timing during the latter part of this combo
Hanging Doom Annihilation flies into the air and hangs there, looking menacingly at player. May dash up to 2 times to avoid direct hit. Perfect moment to either heal or score hits to weak spot.
Phase 2
Global System Error (80% health) Annihilation may "freeze" the current state of the battle and return it to other arena (choice can be either 1st phase arena or 2nd phase arena). Memorize what attack was last shortly before this move to avoid unpleasant surprise.
Local System Error Annihilation may "freeze" and teleport on short distance.  Happens randomly during some of the attack
Tendrils  Tendrils cover the battlefield and may damage or branch between them to limit your movement in the area.  Mind them all the time to avoid getting trapped by them.
Long Tendril Annihilation conjures a long tendril, that sweeps entire arena. Roll to avoid getting hit.
Arrow Barrage Annihilation shoots several arrows, that explodes several seconds later and "corrupts" player. Move outside the blast radius.
Blight Pool Annihilation slams the ground and a blight pool appears on your location. It will build up Blight status effect if you are standing there. Move away as soon as Annihilation slams the ground.
Data Lattice/Waves Annihilation creates three rows of three/lattice of lightning and sweeps the ground using the massive sword he wields. Dodge to avoid
Massive Ball Conjuration + Blast Annihilation conjures several balls of energy dealing high damage on impact. Will also attack with blast, that deals low damage, but interrupts any moves. Shoot all the balls to stop the attack and stun Annihilation

10/10 boss. Phase 2 mechanic makes it a Hall of Fame boss for me. I feel like the majority of the people who hate on it are not good at the fight lmfao

      • Anonymous

Im a little sad that this was one of the easiest bosses in the game, though admittedly I am playing on only Survivor difficulty. The boss never even remotely out damaged my handler/summoner elemental damage / health regen build, and I was constantly getting thwomped by his attacks in the second phase. His damage seems weirdly low, even compared to the minibosses on Root Earth - Venom gave me much more trouble as he actually targeted me instead of my summons.

If you struggle with this boss, I highly recommend picking up Summoner and using the Flyers. During almost the entirety of this boss fight none of the attacks actually targeted or damaged them, leaving them free to constantly bombard the boss with damaging blasts. The orbs seem to only target the player, and most of the boss attacks only hit at ground level.

This boss is hard, but definitely not the hardest boss in the game. The patterns are learnable, and it even gives you half a second pause between the second phase switch. It's very demanding on your attention that's what I'll say - you have to remember what you were going to be hit with just before the switch so you can react. The hard part isn't that it's unfair, but that the patterns are hard to get used to. Died two/three dozen times and eventually killed it before it got to the plasma ball spam move.

Looking back I dare say it was actually fun. The plasma ball spam is still kinda bullshit but given enough practice I'm sure that too can be mastered.

Side note. The arena has multiple spots that will stutter the player and one spot on the left side that will cause engineer players with the gun out to become stuck

            • Anonymous

The second phase of this boss is just bizarre, so many times it switches between envs mid attack and you even lose track of the boss as well. Just bizarre!

In 2nd phase just go to the right side. Still effort, but u evade some attacks and you do some time for heal, etc. When i made to this tactic it was only around 5 tries and this scumbag was done.

                • Anonymous

For anyone struggling with this boss I highly recommend using the Burden of the Audacious ring that heals for 20% max hp on perfect dodge (which you’ll do a lot of during the fight) and use song of eafir mod to destroy the orbs.

                  • Anonymous

As others stated, when you get to Nightmare or Apocalypse difficulty, practically almost all of your death against this boss are because you couldn't destroyed the orbs in time. Just use Song of Eafir, it makes the boss so trivial it almost feels like cheese. Remember to shoot it at the ground, not against the orbs; if you miss, you die, so don't take the chance and shoot the Song of Eafir at the underneath of orbs.

This fight would be good if it weren't for three things:

1: The sword slam knocking you to the ground feels incredibly cheap.

2: The ground stab combo deals too much damage and the shockwave from it is basically invisible if you're playing with graphics set to low

3: It's just way too combo heavy and doesn't have enough recovery inbetween attacks, which can keep you in a loop of healing and getting hit over and over again.

                      • Anonymous

He has insane damage, his wind ups are all very similar, he has cheap delays on most attacks and mele attacks an abilities are basically useless against him. Either you play a high damage perfect dodge buiuld or your gonna have a bad time.

                        • Anonymous

Man this boss in co-op on acop difficulty is so overtuned with damage. One shots any one if does not invest heavily in defence or prfect dodge evry thing (pray to god there is no lag spike when you need to dodge).

                          • Anonymous

NEVER...STOPS...ATTACKING. Quite literally puts Elden Ring bosses to shame at least they have like 2-3 seconds of downtime SOMETIMES. This rat bastard literally goes into another attack as soon as it finishes the first. No time to heal...no time to use a consumable or throwable. Goodness forbid you are playing a close range build by the time you get near him the trash has flown to a new location. I honestly like his second phase TEN times better because you can actually get close to it to attack. The first phase is just ADHD BS from someone who wanted a Devil May Cry boss in a soulslike.

Essoterick one of the best Souls-Like players in the world, who has solo killed without taking damage or dying over 400 different types of Souls bosses across dozens of games, said this boss was the best boss he's ever fought.

Let that sink in. This boss is phenomenal in design and execution and presents an insane challenge.

                              • Anonymous

Alright, so I'm finally at this boss during my first Apocalypse run, and every time he hit me I died instantly. Max Vigor, 70% DR, what else am I supposed to do to survive 1 attack?

                                • This boss is best fought solo under any circumstance. Adding other players also adds the usual additional health pool, along with the variables of lag, frame rate drops (on console), and the simple fact that the boss targets randomly, making dodges tougher than they already are. Watch no-damage runs to learn the timing and have at it. Not to say that having friends to fight isn't fun, but you are asking for a tougher time with them in it.

Fun boss honestly, one of the few that forced me to learn its attack pattern and sounds it makes before attacking.

                                    • Anonymous

I will never say "git gud" with this boss even though it is easy to me at this point. Because this boss' attacks lie to you constantly about when you dodge, so you can't blame anybody for dodging at the wrong times. I already memorized all the attacks and can beat this on Apoc but it is just annoying for new players no matter what difficulty you are at. And unlike many usual enemies, distance doesn't mean anything. It will always hit you, so literally learning all the attacks is the only way.

                                      • Anonymous

No idea why are people complaining when the boss only changes when its preparing the second part of the combo and when it changes back you have a second to know what attack its gonna use if you forgot the attack before it changed, if u cant dodge it, its a skill issue there is a very big leeway for the phase change.

It's not even Git Gud, just a bit cheap, which is sad, Remnant from the Ashes was brilliant, was expecting more from a final boss in the sequel

                                          • Anonymous

Shitty final boss, the arena and screen flashing is just awful. This play tested well enough that people liked it?? I mean who doesn't love when you can't see what's going on when you're playing! Brilliant! SMH

                                            • Anonymous

I went with an all-out passive regen build - Energy Diverter, Generating Band, Tightly Wound Coil, Ring of Crisis and Hardened Coil. Sagittarius in my case for main and Tranquil Heart for relic.
It is class-agnostic, but I feel it goes great with Hunter (for a massive boost in damage), Medic (if somehow the healing still wasn't enough) or Alchemist (if you want to go absolutely nuts).

I'd say this is probably the most noob-friendly build - a lot of forgiveness without the need to do anything but shoot. It also helps you learn the boss's patterns and how to dodge his attacks.

Gotta the love the "git gud" type comments on games that aren't hard, yet can't be silenced because there's genuine need to say it too.

                                                • Anonymous

Just beat Apocalypse Annihilation with Regenerator. Took about 15 minutes per try, but I bited the dust on forth try.

Now that I'm done with it... It's an easy boss. You all need to just not get hit and shoot it until it dies.

Couple extra tips & tricks that might help some folks:

                                                    - sword swipes on 2nd phase in the digital realm always have a sound cue before the actual attack
                                                    - enigma is one of most easiest/reliable ways to get rid of the homing balls quickly and efficiently
                                                    - if you can get rid of all the balls in phase 2 before they deploy you'll stun/stagger the boss and get couple seconds of free dps
                                                    - the + shaped tetris block formation you can crouch under when it comes towards you

                                                    • Anonymous

Anyone else find it at least a little poetic that it's a dragon, which is a myth we created for disaster, greed, and more. Along with chronos before the ashes it really just kinda works. The fact its name is annihilation also aludes to it being annihilation of our own making

                                                      • Anonymous

I hate this boss so much the 2nd phase is just annoying it would have been better if the first phase was tanker and no 2nd health bar

                                                        • Anonymous

I made the mistake of trying this boss solo with a Handler/Summoner without grinding to max my weapons first, because I managed to get to that point just fine and hadn't even had to use a relic more than once in the last ten or so boss encounters.

Imagine my annoyance when the first two phases of the final boss of the game are completely out of reach of my dog, the focus and main feature for my goddamn starter class that the designers could reliably expect a significant portion of players to start with and therefore probably should have taken into account. They obviously did with other flying bosses, since most of those either have adds that melee minions (or, come to to thing of it, a melee build) help with or a ground phase where they land for a little bit, allowing melee minions (or, again, a melee build) to get damage in.

And I think that's what makes this boss so... Controversial... If you're playing solo when you first encounter this boss, the strategy you've been using the entire game can either be just as effective against this boss, making it relatively easy to beat, or completely ineffective.

If you built your character around maximising ranged damage and using mobility to be hit, this boss is easy. You just have to keep doing what you've been doing throughout the entire game so far.
But if you built for melee damage? Well, you're ****ed, because it can't be effectively melee'd.
If you built for letting minions draw the aggro away and assist in doing damage? You're not completely ****ed, but you're in for a bad time, because the Flying Summons and the Engineer's deployed weapons quickly get destroyed by AoE (and also can't hit the boss when it's fairly stationary high up in the air in the first phase, because it's too far away) and the Handler's dog and the Summoner's other summons can't attack or draw aggro from the boss at all since it's never in melee range.
Built for survivability by tanking hits and healing the damage? Not completely ****ed, but in for a bad time yet again (especially if you're playing solo), because if your timing isn't constantly 100% perfect, you're going to get hit by a massive damage attacks that staggers you and interrupts your heal OR dodging to avoid said hit and interrupting your heal.

Basically is a massive departure from every other boss in the game, which can be defeated with any strategy (though individual bosses will be easier to defeat for some strategies than others), by being a boss that can only be fought effectively through one specific strategy.

Nice to see the final boss has the same bug as the final boss from the last game dlc where the game locks up and prevents you dodging.

                                                            • Anonymous

Definitely one of my favorites as far as final boss designs in souls-like games go. Though I am also going to say I'm fortunate to not have photosensitivity nor any kind of red colorblindness because otherwise I can see this boss being an absolute nightmare.

The throngs of visual clutter can be pretty overwhelming; but I also think that's the design intent. It is, after all, as close as we can get to the source of the Root, and it's throwing everything it's got at us as a last ditch effort. So it makes sense at least lore-wise/thematically.

I appreciate that the weakspot is large and relatively easy to hit, to make up for the myriad of varied moves it throws at you. Almost all of them are well-telegraphed though, and the sound-cues are a big tell especially in the 2nd phase.

                                                              • They patched the Phase 2 Cheese where you stand beneath him.
I found going in with the crescent moon bow and just focusing on huge crit damage worked wonders. Enigma for the balls and destroyables.

                                                                • Anonymous

I like this boss a lot in any difficulty that isn’t apocalypse. I happened to get a hearty/vicious one on my apocalypse run (arguably one of the worst possible combinations on any boss), and even with the most DR I could squeeze into my build, his downward thrust attack just one shots me. Literally every other attack would only do half my health, but this one does stupidly high damage for some reason. It also feels like the hitbox for this attack comes out way before it looks like it should, so I could be doing flawlessly and then suddenly get one shot out of ****ing nowhere. If they made the hitbox for that attack more lenient, I would have nothing to complain about with this guy.

                                                                  • Anonymous

it's all about recognizing the attack telegraphs, at first it's overwhelming then you start getting into the groove and it is satisfying

                                                                    • What did "Data Corruption" blight actually do? Pretty sure you can't use relic while still in blight. But what else? It also last very short time.

                                                                      • Anonymous

I am surprised to find the boss as good as it was based on what I heard about it (didn't spoil myself as to what the boss was or anything just stuff I heard on the grapevine). I honestly find it to be the best boss in the game while playing solo on nightmare difficulty. HOWEVER, the visual clarity is a nightmare and I feel like that is a failure of design. Imagine being photosensitive or red colorblind and fighting this boss. I really feel like they could have altered the color scheme of the arena at least somewhat and still keep the theme intact without it being such a cluster****. Other than that though, I'm honestly surprised at how much I enjoyed the fight. I can see why people don't like it though since the fight can easily give you a stroke from all the visual noise, but I think its mechanically pretty solid. I think the concept of "phasing" would be a recipe for disaster, but I am surprised by how well executed it is here.

                                                                        • Anonymous

I found this boss easier than most of the fog wall encounters in root earth.... Visually overstimulating (which i dont consider good difficulty) but not as unsatisfying as the ending.

                                                                          • Anonymous

What a dreadful final boss. The second phase literally gave me a migraine. It’s far too flashy and just a cluster****. I don’t find it difficult, but when the games legitimately making me feel sick due to visual overload that’s a major issue.

Ya’ll need to change the 2nd phase

                                                                            • Anonymous

For phase 2, there is a lower level you can drop down to that makes it easier as most of the attacks don’t effect that level and you can just snipe the weak spot. Then you just have to worry about the switch between realms instead of all the craziness going on up top in the glitch realm.

                                                                              • Anonymous

If you lose connection to your host during the credits, that character won't have access to the Realmwalker armor set.
Happened to me, anyway. However, when I joined the same friend while I was using a different character who hadn't beat the game yet, I was able to see and buy the armor set.
                                                                                Very odd.

                                                                                • Anonymous

You can think a boss has a cool design, but the fight itself is bad. They are not mutually exclusive opinions to have.

                                                                                  • Anonymous

Anyone have a melee centric build that works on this guy? I like all the melee options in this game but when it comes to this boss, and other flying ones, it seems melee is just not possible. Curious if anyone had anything. Was thinking huntress spear and bleeds or something

                                                                                    • Anonymous

Just finished beating this boss on apocalypse. Quick tip for anyone stuck on this, use the mod Song of Eafir whenever he summons the orbs. With max amplitude it almost always destroys all the orbs instantly. Especially useful on stage 2 to get the juicy damage phases

                                                                                      • Anonymous

The nonstop whining in this thread is golden. You're meant to struggle on this boss, he's the final boss for a reason. The difficulty isn't artificial like everyone makes it out to be. If you dodge well, shoot the orbs in time, and have a decent damage output you'll be just fine. Most importantly though, git gud.

                                                                                        • Anonymous

Just cleared Apocalypse, only advise is use Enigma for cleaning balls and bull up to tank one hit from sword shockwave.
I used shielded heart+ black cat band to tank more when necessary

                                                                                          • Anonymous

After reading everyone complaining about this boss, I'm a bit disappointed. This boss is one of the most memorable bosses of all time to me personally. His phase 2 is really unique and will probably stay in my memory for a long time. I just beat him on Apocalypse today after maybe an hour or two and I had a blast. All my deaths were my fault. My only suggestion would be to lower the health of those insta kill orbs. I struggled to destroy them in phase two in time since they took two shots each with a pure damage build.

                                                                                            • Anonymous

You can cheese this boss with regen/DR build on both survivor and veteran difficulty, you can tank about 5 hits on veteran and have around 5hp/s regen on top of lifesteal

basically Mark 2 leto, leto amulet, fae signet and ring of the robust with Fortify (engineer class trait, can be used without engineer if maxed) will get you 70% or so DR, boosted further with barkskin will give you 80% DR, green/medium rolls with reduced stamina usage. That alone makes you super tanky, but this can be made into even tankier build with HP/s regen
Summoner class trait regrowth has 1.5hp/s, reserve boosting gives another 0.33hps going up to 2hp/s under 50% health, root water consumable which lasts an hour gives another 0.75hps (or you can use the other one that gives 30 hp), add triage boosting it by another 50% and you get 4.5hp/s and 6.7hps/ under 50% health, so you can regen your full health in around 20s, on top of that you can use Shielded Heart which acts as second layer of HP, shield is affected by DR so the shield of 140 can tank 4 hits while you regen your health passively.

Anyways this is the best build I could think of to learn the boss patterns or cheese it under nightmare difficulty, I ran this built with Hunter+summoner to get the extra dmg and crit chance, with nightfall for extra lifesteal on mod and to save ammo, summoner sacrifice gives more lifesteal so you can tank 4-5 hits, I killed the boss second try with this build as I only needed to dodge every 3rd attack, the only attack that cant be tanked is the balls unless you destroy about half and use shield heart which then lets you tank the balls as well.

                                                                                              • Anonymous

full armor leto mk2, leto amulet, summoner + hunter with boosting gem, fae signet, barkskin, triage, siphoner, vigor and fortify (from maxing engineer) will let you have 80% damage reduction, if you pop health regen root water which adds another 0.75hp/s you end up almost unkillable in veteran difficulty

basically you have 79.5% or so DR, with (1.5+0.75+0.33)x1.5 hp/s boosted to (1.5+0.75+2)x1.5 under 50% hp, so you heal 4hp/s going up to 6.38hp/s under 50% hp, you have medium rolls, get 50% damage increase with hunter and extra with crits, also lifesteal, I used shield relic which adds another 140 shield while I regen, meaning I can absorb about 5 hits before dying in veteran

you can also probably do this with mix of medic/summoner/engineer for different bonuses or use handler for revive having an extra life

                                                                                                • Anonymous

many ways to make the boss easy, etc full damage reduction build works really well at survivor/veteran difficulties as you can tank most of the damage without dying, etc a full mark 2 leto set with leto amulet ring of robust will let you have 79.5% damage reduction and medium (green) roll with fae signet, you can adjust it for bit less reduction of damage if needed, then you can get summoner to help you deal damage and the 1.5 regen will let you survive without healing if you get Triage which increases regen, you can use nightfall to reduce ammo consumption and get extra lifesteal, the other class can be anything you want but I prefer hunter for the extra 50%+ damage and crits, then you only really need to dodge the biggest hits like the flying balls that will stagger thus kill you

                                                                                                  • Anonymous

of all the souls games, official, inspired, knock off, copy cat, etc... This game by far has some of the most annoying/cheap boss environments run by adds or the arena itself.

Cheap environments, ridiculous environmental effects. I don't really care if it's story related, jumping between the computer world and the hyper real world or whatever is happening, is just not fun. Tired of waking up in a trap or coming up to bat against the homing nukes on reload.

                                                                                                    • Anonymous

heard this advice from another person but base your dodges on audio cues, especially in second phase, trust me its much easier, that way you can focus your eyes just on trying to hit his weakspot instead of trying to find his weapon and see if its moving, audio cues for the win !

                                                                                                      • Anonymous

What makes this boss especially one of the, if not the, most annoying bosses for me is that everything happening in the room is like 10 different shades of red. That just makes it unnecessarily hard to see what is even happening during the fight, and also probably why it takes people like 30+ minutes just to understand its first attacks. It is the same with those rolling Root Hollow enemies in Yaesha being extremely annoying because of how they blend in with the dark red forest environment there.

And as others already pointed out, it sucks that certain builds/weapons get invalidated because it is purely a ranged fight. Maybe that wouldn't be such a problem if something like loadouts existed, making swapping from a minion/melee build to a more appropriate build much easier.

                                                                                                        • Anonymous

                                                                                                          • Anonymous

As of August 9 2023 this boss is majorly bugged. Rings were broken in the hotfix so they don't work after dying or fast traveling or respawning. However in this fight in phase 3 your rings stop working. ALL of them. Every. Single. Teleport. Your rings reset. It's extremely annoying to have all my rings stop working a dozen times in one fight. A clunky fix is to switch guns and use the mods on both guns.

                                                                                                            • Anonymous

What’s the lore significance of this thing? When it opens itself up in the second phase, does it reveal there’s a dreamer inside it? Is it the same dreamer from Remnant 1/chronos if so?

                                                                                                              • Anonymous

RIght guys, so apparently it is our fault not knowing that on 1/3 of bosses summons are useless on half close range suck and last boss is nigh impossible with slow reload weapon or melee build and ofc summons are useless (main handler is okay i guess, but you could ve been challanger if you want 2nd wind)

                                                                                                                • Anonymous

I love and hate the boss honestly. I guess I have a balanced take based on the comments below. There is good and cool stuff like him dodging when you aim at him and the head being the weakspot. What is bad is perhaps how some sound cues are way early and the game has trained you to dodge based on them in every single fight before this one. The fact that he breaks the rhythm the game has built up is probably intentional, but to me it feels off. Of course after a few attempts I get used to it. He has a rather predictable pattern that he keeps repeating in phase 1 and it's much the same in phase 2. Phase 3 is where it gets a bit nutty and it can be hard to follow. My last note is that for some of his attacks you have a lot of wiggle room with reaction time and then 2 attacks are extremely fast with no time to react. You must know those 2 attacks in advance.

                                                                                                                    • Anonymous

Not a bad boss, annoying sure and confusing until you realize exactly what's happening and that last little bit after the cutscene where the game tries to kill you with grunts just to ruin your run was unnecessary.

Other than that though I enjoyed the boss itself, me and two friends with far from optimal builds were able to beat it sub 20 attempts.

Biggest issue with the final boss tbh is that the ending kinda sucks, no spoilers but for a game with so many choices and alternate paths getting shoe horned into how it ends is kinda lame. Really hope they expand on it and give multiple options to end it in the dlcs.

TlDr, Confusing but good boss, underwhelming ending.

                                                                                                                      • Anonymous

Whenever there is a bad boss, there are always people who claim it is a good boss in order to feel superior to those who complain about it, but I have to say that it is a bad boss even if I can clear it solo and consistently. Why? This game has maps like Endaira's End that can only be progressed through multiplayer, archetype abilities have effects to grant to allies, and some rings also affect allies, which means that the cooperative element in multiplayer is one of the main contents, not a sub It is not a sub-content, but one of the main contents. And the frequent map switching in the latter part of this boss cancels resuscitation and leaves the buff field behind. This leaves the benefits of multiplayer behind, leaving only the disadvantage of increased enemy strength. This is not a bad boss if multiplayer is a bonus, but it is a bad boss if multiplayer is designed to be one of the main content.

                                                                                                                        • Anonymous

I have seen other people saying the plasma cutter can cause problems on this fight so that is my only assumption at this point.

You can get close enough to every boss to do full shotgun damage. There are also throwing melee weapons.
People select higher difficulties and expect that any sh*t of a build they throw together will work.

Yeah its frustrating and admittedly I died a lot but I thought this was an awesome challenge. The hate for 'terrible game design' reminds me of Elden Ring rhetoric. However, I agree that the story was off. Weird with the annihilation vs annihilation scenario.

Also using the ring that heals you as you dodge (Burden of the Audacious) at the cost of other healing methods. After changing my playstyle I beat it in 2-3 tries.

                                                                                                                                          • Anonymous

Use enigma and you will be chilling otherwise good luck hitting teleporting orbs that are quite capable of one shotting you. Everything else is very dodgeable though and i like the realm shift gimmick for the most part.
However, the weird desperation phase where it just throws weak root losers at you is a waste of time. On one hand, you are very likely just sitting there being totally fine as they do barely any dmg for some reason. On the other hand, i could envision a situation where you have no healing from the boss, you are low with no regen or shield or lifesteal, and you just get chipped to death by the grunts and lose. TBH if that happens then you probably dont have the main bossfight down though i suppose. Still, it feels like a waste of time and idk why they bothered with it if its so lame
