Remnant 2 Mother Mind Strategy Writeup

The fight with this boss will occur in an arena made up of several stone platforms on the side of a very big hole in the rock, in the center the enemies will levitate and attack. Note that the boss has many red weak spots you can exploit to deal extra damage. It will use melee attacks on you until you take enough health away from it that he uses a smash attack on the platform you stand on and break it. To win the fight, you will have to dodge its dragging attacks by evading to the side and its spinning attacks by changing platforms. The smash attack has a window to reposition where the boss rises up in the air, so you use it, and beware of the Root Flyers it spawns while doing it. Be sure to end the boss before all platforms are broken.

Attacks & Counter

Attack Counter
Dragging Claw Attack: It will hit a side of the platform with one claw and drag it backward, dealing damage. Evade to the side not affected.
Spinning Claws: It will spin both its claws, damaging the whole platform.

To avoid it jump or run to other platform.

Platform Smash: It makes two smashing attacks on the platform, the second breaks it. If you fall, you die instantly. Reposition yourself to another platform, don't waste ammo on the boss as it will become invulnerable during the attack.

This boss did take patience but after 4 trys I was able to get him down.
It did bug out once, one of the ramps dissappear unfortunately.

I stayed in once place, Started with Firestorm mod, though hard to place right it does great DoT Damage, then Nightfall with Dreadwalker, while running to the next platform while big brain destroys the platform I used my Runed Heart which generates 500 mod power over 10s for both weapons, AKA reset my mods, Rinse and repeat until he was down.
Oh and as a Handler, my little doggo was useless, he got a pat anyways.

Why do people have such a hard time with this? It is literally the EASIEST boss in the game next to Gwendil.

Don't move unless you have to; it doesn't do you any good here, and you'll just get distracted. When you see the acid firing animation, immediately stop what you're doing and look up. The acid isn't that hard to dodge if you just watch the projectiles. You can usually avoid the spinning attack by hugging the wall, although there are a few bad spots.

Sometimes you dodge after the claw attack hits the ground (before the pullback/swipe) and other times you dodge before it hits the ground. Is there any indicator on which one it is? Of course not, because that would be good and fair boss design and we can't have that. Boss or not, one attack should not take 3/4 of a health bar. Damage is too high for how inconsistent boss hitboxes are. Huge blemish on an otherwise excellent game.

Be very careful with this boss, I was almost done with my apocalypse run, (last world) before root earth and on the very last platform we both killed each other at the same time and I was brought back to the crystal and cannot get across to the exit, my whole run is now ruined and I have to completely start over

I found using the turret in your hand does grate dmg and you can dodge all the attacks even the twisting slash it does spinning around . I saved it for when it was 40% health and just ruined it.

If you rolled "empathy" suffix, use Void Heart. I think because healing is not immediate boss won't heal on use. Possibly a bug? Needs further testing.

                  Just beat it on Apoc.

                  • Ramps in multiplayer are phasing out of existence. Just an FYI. Steer clear of them for the first slam or you may just run through them off the platform.

                    • Was doing good damage to this thing, but getting my ass kicked hard by him.. especially by the acid pools. It's imperative to look up as he's shooting them and figure out where they're going to land.. if it lands on you, it will do mega damage. That was the worst part of it. Most attacks can be avoided by sticking to the back wall (ex. the rocks that come crashing down, or his spin attack), or rolling backwards (his arm attacks).

This boss would be okay, pretty good even. The platform mechanic is fun and has a huge time window, the claw attacks are a bit dodgy but usually easy to dodge, the spawns are reasonable, the spin attack is tight on timing but you can dodge it, the rocks falling from the ceiling can be a bit random but sure, but GOD DAMN if that horseshit acid puddle attack isn't one of the most infuriating, cheap, random instakills I've ever seen. There isn't anything I did different on my successful try that I didn't do in the previous attempts, you just have to pray to RNJesus you get an acid pattern that is survivable. At least we should be able to shoot off the holes or shoot the orbs before they hit or SOMETHING.

Can someone explain how this boss.is ‘Optional’? I feel like this was a blocker on the pretty direct path to the Temple. I didn’t have much issue my first playthrough, but it would be nice to understand going forward

The Mother Mind boss fight in Nameless Nest is very buggy.
                            1) Ramps go invisible and disappear and character falls through it w/o the boss destroying the ground
                            2) Sometimes the ground in the boss fight just show up as invisible but they are still there
                            3) Character randomly dies when trying to enter the boss grey mist gateway
                            4) Character randomly dies while fighting boss for no reason while still with full health and no aggro nor being hit.

Easy boss. The attacks from above can easily be dodge left/right. The big whirlwind you can just outrange by standing against the wall. The puddles dissapear when he does his first slam to destroy a platform so you can walk to the next one. The only thing you gotta dodge here is the puddles falling. Anything else is just target dummie on the big X in the middle.

they need to telegraph the acid puddles, i've lost 3 HC runs not even on apoc because you just don't know where it's gonna drop them and they kill nearly instantly if they land on you and tick once, for the love of god devs let us see where it's gonna put them or make it a fixed pattern this is ridiculous

Do I just accept death if the pink goo blocks my path to the next platform and this ******* is about to break the one I'm standing on currently?

the rest of bosses for now are fine, this is definetly the worst, the topdonw claw has very bad hitbox, then he puts acid floor in every of your sides, so if you want to avoid the claw that deals a lot of damage in bad hitbox, you take the acid florr and get a lot of DoT dmg

                                    • Anonymous

On nightmare it fires projectiles that cause a damaging AoE field on the ground...usually fires 4 projectiles twice....god it's a pain lol
