Venom is a Boss in Remnant 2. Venom is a powerful Root Knight, clad in metal armor and wielding a massive steel lance. Bosses are the ultimate Enemies as they present a more challenging battle than Enemies or "Elite" Enemies. They are usually found guarding special locations or items, and some of them are important to the Lore and main Story of the game.

Remnant 2 Venom Information

Remnant 2 Venom Strategy Writeup

After you advance a few more meters, you will trigger a cut-scene and Venom, a powerful Root wielding a massive sword, will enter the battlefield and taunt you. Venom has several attacks at various different ranges and the speed of his attacks varies greatly. His attacks also tend to be very hard hitting, and when Venom has the Vicious affix they can be particularly one-shot capable.

Venom becomes more dangerous as he loses HP, his main thrusting combo gains a third portion which is a change-up ability and he spawns more and more totems to assist.

While flying Venom can protect his core with a shield in-between his attacks, explosive weapons such as the Meridian and its alt-fire will still do full damage even when striking this shield.

Players should be warned when attempting this fight -- This bosses timings are much different than a lot of fights up to this point. The trick here is to be patient with your dodges as Venom will catch people roll spamming its main combo and other attacks.

Attacks & Counter

Attack Description Counter
Shield Venom conjures a shield, that covers his weak spot. It is temporarily disabled during some regular attack and shut down when performing a Sword Throw attack. Wait for the moment to attack or try to attack upper parts of head, as it is not protected by shield.
Sword Thrust Combo Venom approaches into melee on the ground and quickly thrusts his weapon, then after a short delay thrusts again. When his health reaches a certain threshold he will add a 3rd attack to the combo which will either be a very fast short range bash with his sword, a semi-quick shoulder bash, or a rather slow charge attack. Dodging sideways makes all of these attacks easier to avoid, pause after rolling for the first attack before rolling to avoid the second.
Sword Root Combo Venom charges towards player with his sword raised up. When close to player, it performs one horizontal and 1 vertical attack, both ends with wave. When Venom stops, back away to avoid damage.
Massive Sword Venom floats upwards and leans its sword back and smashes it on the ground. Roots emerge from the ground in the impacted area as a massive cone. They will also drop 3 red aoes which deal damage as you stand in them. This is a very slow attack, be patient when dodging, and then keep rolling to ensure you don't end up within one of the aoes.
Summon Staff While on the ground Venom will summon one or more root staves. The number of staves spawned increases as the bosses HP is depleted. These staffs are damageable and if left alive will lob orbs at the player. Staves will eventually de-spawn. This boss will also channel staves during his Orbital Strike. The staves are easy to destroy if you see them. Hunter's Mark can be particularly useful as it highlights them through walls.
Red Orb While flying Venom can channel root energy into its weapon and then fire a large slow moving projectile at the player. When this orb hits the player or terrain it expands into a large aoe which deals damage over time.
Running, Sprinting, and Rolling are sufficient enough to avoid this attack on its own. The two giant spools of wire in the middle of the arena can also be used to catch these orbs. Be warned that if you use the spools the attack effect can block your vision.
Sticky Bombs While flying Venom channels energy close to their chest and then throws 3 explosive orbs in a tight triangle pattern. These bombs will stick to players. After a short delay they explode for massive damage in an aoe which is slightly larger than you'd think.
Either roll towards (and under) this attack or roll back and to the side. If you get stuck by a bomb it is possible to dodge during its explosion to avoid its damage.
Sword Throw While flying Venom throws its sword violently towards the player and rushes towards it to grab it again. Venom will grab the sword and impale the ground with it after a moderate delay dealing lots of damage in a large aoe. Dodge the initial toss and roll twice more away. With proper timing you can avoid the slam attack after he grabs his weapon. The boss is animation locked in this attack for quite some time leaving it rather vulnerable.
Orbital Strike After taking sufficient damage Venom will return to the ground if it is flying and draw in black/red root energy and remain stationary. While he may seem like an easy target the attack he channels is deadly. Multiple red circles will appear around the arena, and after a short delay they will explode for lots of damage. Typically one will spawn under the player and several will spawn nearby. Venom can summon staves as part of this attack, increasing the number of things to dodge. Venom can fire 3 or more waves in a row, so keep on the lookout if he's finished channeling or not. The best option here is to manage your stamina and focus on avoiding the attacks one way or another. Do not waste stamina by sprinting around too much during this attack, as depleting your stamina often means death.

Literally oneshots me on my HuGs with 64% DR and an entire shielded heart, I hard to unironically go Black Cat to beat this guy. Wtf

      • Anonymous

I ended up getting Regenerator and Empathy on this guy for my solo Apocalypse run and let me tell you, I've never, ever hated playing this game more than the three days it took to beat him.

        • Anonymous

Mildly infuriating in multiplayer. One moment it focused on a player, and then casting throwing animation (while still aiming to that player), but suddenly it throws to another player.

          • Anonymous

Just finished my first Apocalypse run and good lord this guy gave myself and my team infinitely more hassle than any other boss, even Annihilation. Everything up until Venom was killed in 1 or 2 tries, but we must have spent about 4 hours on him. The damage of the Virus Pools he leaves as well as the smaller projectiles he throws with his left hand were killer. Even with 80% damage reduction, and about 170 HP the Virus Pools would kill me in 1-2 ticks of damage. Same story for the delayed explosive projectiles. I found that listening was the best way to tell when he is throwing projectiles, makes a distinct sound, but even if you hear it you need to dodge almost immediately. Very frustrating fight all in all when it feels like the boss gets rewarded for misses and you have to play absolutely perfectly for 10+ minutes or restart. Exhausting when you do have to restart over and over.

            • Anonymous

Bloody hate this guy. The sticky bombs are incredibly annoying because if you get hit, you are also staggered, meaning the time window to dodge is tiny and odds are also that there's some BS AoE nonsense happening on the ground at the same time.

              • Anonymous

After my 2nd apocalypse clear, I can without a doubt say this guy is the hardest boss in the game only because the Sword Root Combo is broken. I don't know why, but it's like the individual roots have an invisible kill radius of 2m around them. If you think you're out of the root cone and die anyways, that's why.

                • Anonymous

Honestly I wouldn't even mind this boss if I could actually see what he is doing, lol. His attacks are damaging sure but you can avoid them and time things well to not get hit. The problem is that there have been times in the fight where he is spewing out black smoke and particle effects everywhere and I can't even see him.

                  • Anonymous

The reason people hate Venom isn't usually because he is hard...at least not with us "git gud" types. The reason we tend to hate him is for two particular reasons. ONE is the AoE damaging areas he leaves behind that last some time. Combine that with something like the "shocking" suffix and this becomes one of the most unfair and RNG oriented bosses in the game. Literally ends hardcore runs more than anything. SECONDLY is the fact that half the time you CAN'T SEE ANYTHING in the stupid arena because off all the smoky and black effects this bastard farts out that obscures half of his attack tells when paired with the monochrome black/grey arena.

There is just too much going on in this fight with so much difficulty to actually SEE anything that most people, even before Annihilation was nerfed considered Venom to be 10 times harder than the final boss because all the final boss is really is a timing and patience check. Venom on the other hand is literally the worst balanced boss in the entire game. Honestly it would have been a better final boss than Annihilation.

                    • Anonymous

I am going to be straight up honest...I can handle everything this bastard throws at me EXCEPT the awful sticky bombs. Reason is that even if you dodge them they exploded after hitting the ground which can lead to you getting hit or dying anyway.

                      • Anonymous

They nerf the final boss for no reason yet this bastard they leave alone? Should revert the Annihilation nerf and then nerf Venom instead. Too much RNG in this fight along some wonky mechanic interaction.

i use merciless with ravenger's mark + movement speed, recovery trait + all dmg ring and stamina. For archetype use invader + worm hole + alchemist or medic. When enter shoot to apply bleeding then press merciless's weapon mod, then run around the big house, keep the eye on orbital strike (he's unlikely to hit you with any other skills), use worm hole to keep the distance or need to recovery stamina. Killed him on apoc with empathy + spiteful suffix

                          • Anonymous

For anyone who is struggling with this, use merciless combine with revenger's mark, ring that increase all DMG, trait takes swiftness, endurance, recovery and movement speed concoction. Medium or light armor. Choose invader with worn hole, other takes alchemist or medic. Then when you enter the arena shoot to apply bleeding (remember to press the weapon mod button but do not shoot it) then run around the house, keep the distance, if you need to recovery stamina or venom get closed, use worm hole to keep the distance as far as you can. I used this to kill venom on apocalypse with empathy+ spiteful suffix

                            • Anonymous

For the ones struggling with this, I have found that using the Sniper Rifle "Widowmaker" with Twisting Wounds, and LITREALLY just running away from him works wonders, when he's really far away, stop for a short moment, take a shot at this weakspot for the bleed, and keep running when he approaches, small trick for his 2 combo wave attack, if you're running to the left when he does the first attack, he'll just flat out miss every time, then you only need to dodge the 360 wave, same for the stabs, the first one will always miss if you're running to the left when he's trying to get up and stab you.

Faelin/Faerin, Venom, and Annihilation all have the same issues. Too much crap on-screen blinding you and making it too hard to see the boss tells for their attacks. Faelin/Faerin is actually the least problematic of these three but the problem is there.

He. Never. Stops. Attacking. You have not time to heal, to use a consumable, to do...ANYTHING...because even if HE stops attacking his staff turrets on the ground won't and need to be destroyed meanwhile Venom is dropping AoE damage that LINGERS while the WHOLE DAMN ARENA IS GREY, BLACK, AND RED JUST LIKE THE BOSS AND HIS ATTACKS I CAN'T ****ING SEE **** EVEN WITH OVER 9000 BRIGHTNESS!

I feel like when compared to all the other bosses Venom just feels like "that one boss". The final boss is actually easier than he is and every other boss, even though some of them can be tricky, you can learn them and do well even on higher difficulties. Venom js the only boss in the game I truly don't like fighting. The fight is not fun.

If they would just remove the black smoke he farts out every time the old codger does anything I'd personally not complain.

Literally harder than Annihilation even before that boss was nerfed. I don't get why they nerfed Annihilation but not Venom. Annihilation didn't even need a nerf just some of the visual clutter removed. Venom on the other hand NEEDS to be nerfed in some way yet they leave it be? The balance team for Gunfire is very questionable.

                                            • Anonymous

You know, I wouldn't have a problem with all the bs this boss throws at you except for one attack of his. When he raises up his left hand that isn't holding the spear and it glows for a brief second and then he throws like 3-4 projectiles...because they don't just hit you and do damage...they EXPLODE. This boss has the same problem that Dream Eater and Ikro in Remnant 1 had...overbloated kits and mechanics. It also doesn't help that the arena is very monochrome which makes actually telling what is going on hard.

                                              • Anonymous

                                                Empathy/Hearty

I SOLO'ed this guy with ease, I primarily used the hand gun "Star Shot" with +10 Twisting wounds on it.

---put Song of Eafnir on your long gun, use it right at the start of the fight, then swap to Star Shot, and spam it.
---whenever you get the mod power for Song of Eafnir again, use it.
---Put trait points into Swiftness, Fitness, (whatever the grey health conversion one is called), Regrow, Armor, and Barkskin.
                                                I had no extra vigor.

IMPORTANT: Use probably Detonation Trigger amulet to synergize with Star Shot, so when you shoot it does a decent DoT combo'ed with your Twisting Wounds bleed.
semi-important: Blasting Cap ring helps too, because why not. Flame damage ring DOES NOT HELP.

It was actually a very simple kite fight at that point for me. I didn't even use any relic charges.

p.s. killing blow was a pipe bomb to his face because **** Venom. hehe

If you have problems with him on apoc difficulty, try spamming him with firestorm. Make sure you hit him directly, so the firestorm sticks to him, then hide behind one of the big machines in the area and watch him burn.

                                                  • Anonymous

this boss would be amazing if he didn't have about 6 different attacks that 1 shot on apoc. not sure on nightmare, but his damage was manageable on a max DR build on veteran. on Apoc at 200 hp 80% dr (1000 effective hp) he is capable of 1 shotting with spear throw, slam, sticky bombs, lazers, spear charge, turn around projectile throw.
its a bit absurd damage wise. Its a doable fight but it just becomes completely frustrating, getting 1 shot usually is.

I'm so tired of bosses in this game with undodgeable attacks. I'm also tired of twitch viewbotters inflating their popularity by paying for embedded streams on wiki sites.

Non stop stun locking me the entire fight, doesn't matter if tank build or high damage HUGS; I'm in perpetual stun animation 90% of the entire fight.

                                                        • Anonymous

His red pools just instantly kill me regardless of my build, I can't sprint, roll, nor flop out of them and they still have a larger hitbox quite a distance outside their visual area. I thought the patch with Venom and damage reduction fixes would solve or ease my problem, but now the red pools kill me in .1secs rather than .2secs... Mines got Hearty/Thickskin I pity whoever has to fight him with Vicious...

I had Skullcracker Drain Venom on Apocalypse. Basically immortal. Tried to cheese with bleed and burn DOTs while running away, but spawns pools under you across the map that heals him up if not kills you outright. Attack patterns are insanely fast, if you are in light armour you either stagger too long to dodge the follow-up attack or die outright. Only boss that made me Alt+F4

One big tip, the firestorm mod absolutly bugs this ****er, with archon mod regeneration and the faerin sigil he pretty much gets stunlocked

Finally beat the guy on Apoc. Overall, this bosses design blemishes really show on higher difficulty.

While he has a host of attacks that a survivability/DR build like me has to respect, they're easily telegraphed/can be predicted.

If you're like me and like running Medic tank, the only moves you have to respect are his timed bomb throw, spear throw, and the lunging stab he will sometimes perform after his 2 stab combo after he ascends for the first time @ around 75%hp.

The real kicker on this boss is I rarely had trouble with his near guarantee one shot moves. It's the dumb lil puddles he'd place that would get me the most. If they land in a bad position you're boned, dumped points into fitness to help get the hell out of em if I accidentally stuck a toe in.

I'd like this boss a lot more, oneshots and all, if what killed me the most wasn't a barely discernible puddle on the floor.

                                                                • Anonymous

Holy crap this boss is so poorly designed. Who figured a trillion damage non-stop from infinite range on a bullet sponge would be a good idea? This is not fun whatsoever. I can't see what the **** is happening for 80% of the fight because of all the smoke and red effects. Sob bad

                                                                  • Anonymous

                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                      Endurance 2

I think the Untouchable + Fitness setup I have been running was key to surviving here. It made dodging the sword pokes trivial as you dodge so far out of the range the followup shoulder tackle just naturally misses you.

The overhead sword slam I found was best dodged by staying close after every poke combo (as he usually follows with the slam) and doge towards/through him. The slam shoots out roots in a cone in front, so best bet is to stay behind.
Odds are you will be in an aoe puddle after the slam, but don't panic. Wait for the SCREECH that indicates he will throw sticky bombs behind him and then dodge out of the AOE.

When he comes towards you with the sword raised, dodge toward him for the first swipe, stay frosty for a sec and the dodge towards/to the side for the follow up circular swipe. If you panic roll it will catch you. If you roll backwards it can sometimes catch you if you mistime it slightly.

For the bit where aoes pop up and explode, just keep running and stay away from walls and corners.

I popped Nano Swarm essentially on cooldown, and only really used Bloodline when he was standing still and very far away.

I ran out of ammo halways through and had to pop an Ammo Box (might have just been unlucky, or poor aim).

Hope this helps some poor unfortunate soul.

                                                                      • Anonymous

Absolute bullshit on apocalypse, way too much hp, some combinations of his attacks are very very hard to dodge and overall very annoying fight. I can't imagine beating him without full dps nightfall build. And I was kinda lucky with the modifiers he got.

                                                                        • Anonymous

Hope this is helpful for some that struggle in Survivor difficulty like I did.
Main is Engineer. I died 4 times, beat him easily at the 5th run.
I used the FLAMETHROWER (deployed) to keep him burning, kept him corroded and "nanited" with NEBULA, and made him bleeding with the BLOOD DRAW mod. Some sporadic gunfire and he was gone.
The fight was over within less a minute.

                                                                          • Anonymous

Had a lot of trouble with his sword slam that spawns roots. Finally beat him though (Nightmare). The trick is to run towards him and dodge roll. Most of his attacks are telegraphed at where you last were, even his dumb thrust attacks is aimed at your old spot. Just keep moving to one side and you'll be fine. If you get hit by the sticky bombs just dodge roll straight away. The sword throw is bullshit though, so much clutter on the screen and not enough contrast, sometimes I can't see him at all. He even teleports after he does some attacks. I used ping to keep track of him. Otherwise, it's a decently doable fight with a clear weakspot.

                                                                            • Anonymous

My friend and I got this boss with the "Vicious" modifier. It was basically just one shotting and then some if we didn't perfectly dodge everything. We eventually kinda "cheesed" it by wearing the Game Master's Pride ring to share/split the same health pool. My friend had support dog with secondary summoner and I was a medic/summoner. Essentially, I just stood in a corner spamming relic hearts(Resonating Heart) and wellspring nonstop to try and outheal all the damage my friend would fail to dodge. Took a couple tries using this strat but we had died like 15x before I even found to try this.

                                                                              • Anonymous

Keep your distance and use a GUN, ring around with him using the terrain. At distance he only does fireball and sword throw they are all easily dodgeable

                                                                                • Anonymous

Not only is this wiki missing about 75% of the attacks this boss does, but it should also be noted this is the run-ender. Unless you can dodge every single attack, you will get 1 shot by his nonstop flurry of attacks. I can solo every single other boss but this one due to his absolute barrage of hits, over 400,000 health (mathed it out) without Hearty, and arena-wide range on attacks. I even tried the bugged 100% damage reduction build and he can still kill you. Game has been fantastic so far but this boss feels like it wasn't playtested at all, just shoved in to scare players that the final boss would be harder, but I managed to flawless kill the final boss the first try, so it really says something about design.

                                                                                  • Anonymous

I had 3 bulwark, full letos, him with the 15% dr and he one shot me :D great design. This game is fun aside from the extremely overtuned bosses that never stagger and have 15 hit combos. I'm not even playing on nightmare ffs.

                                                                                    • Anonymous

I just lost all my sanity and hope and got my blood turned into pure venom but in the end I won! Just to be clear... devs should watch and try bosses before making them into the official game... This one Is the kind of boss who can make 90% of players to drop the game.

                                                                                      • Anonymous

The damage output of this thing is ridiculous, some of the attacks oneshot me in Leto's with maxed health and DR. While the attacks are not as cancerous as Ravager's whirlwind and arena is not as bad as the one for Kaeula's Shadow, this fight is not very fun. One of the few, where I abused the hell out of backstep dodge.

                                                                                        • Anonymous

                                                                                          • Anonymous

im rocking, 139 hp, 237,9 armor (60-61% dmg reduction) with Stoneskin(Alchemist) and Support Dog(Handler) to maximize dmg reduction, healing and sustain in general. Also using the Healing Shot you start with and Enigma for passive electrocute damage... But because he has Regenerator in my world it just seems next to impossible to kill with all the freaking nonstop attacks he is doing... I get his hp down a bit and before I can really attack safely again he has regened most if not all of it back again... The most obnoxious, boring and tilting fight I've seen in the game so far. Mechanically and damage output... He even has a few attacks that legit one shot me on full hp through Stoneskin

                                                                                            • Anonymous

If you plan on running away from the attack, do it earlier. The range is misleading due to how **** the hitboxes are on this particular attack.

                                                                                              • Anonymous
