Remnant 2 Faelin Strategy Writeup

Faelin is a hulking figure, that uses both melee and ranged attacks. He also may perform a dash to quickly close the distance, but most of the time he walks slowly towards you.

His weak spot is the hilt of his sword which floats behind his head when not in use. When shooting it, damage will be increased, so try to hit him there as much as possible.

Note that he can also teleport around the map to evade your attacks. When half his health bar is removed, he will enter his second phase, in which he summons two energy balls at either side. He also elevates all the giant Swords from the statues on the battlefield and slams them to the ground.

During this phase, Faelin will move much faster, almost as if sliding, and be much more aggressive with his attacks. He can summon energy balls that will attack you as if they were turrets. You can destroy them by attacking them.

When you remove 75% of his health bar, Faelin enters his third phase. He will teleport around the battlefield, attempting to attack you from behind with his sword. Also, the giant swords will drop from the sky attempting to damage you. Move around as much as possible. At this point, Faelin will move incredibly fast, and will keep teleporting to avoid damage and to surprise you with one of his attacks.

Attacks & Counter

Attack Description Counter
Phase 1 & 2
Upward Slash Moves forwards and does an upward slash with his hand. Dodge to the side, but be ware of odd timing of this attack.
Sword Combo Moves forwards and attacks with his sword. May use one of these combos:
  • 2 horizontal regular attacks
  • 4 horizontal regular attacks (after 2 attacks there is a flash)
  • 2 horizontal attacks and - after a flash - Upward attack
  • False attack and - after a flash - regular 2-hit combo

Dodge to the side. Be ware, as is 4 hit-combo last attack has odd timing
Telekinesis of Light Faelin tries to pull target towards himself. May follow it with Sword combo if pull was successful. Dodge to the side to avoid pull, timing has to be very precise.
Energy Ball Creates (1 + number of players) balls at his side that shoots a ranged attack. The ball will shoot 3 times before disappearing. Faelin will create energy balls more frequently and aggressively in 2nd phase. Dodge to the side, as soon as the ranged attack is launched. Players can attack the ball to destroy it.
Energy Wave Creates wave of balls that shoots a ranged attack. Unlike Energy Ball, they don't track player. Either stay far away to avoid hit or destroy 1-2 to pass throught
Phase 2 (50% Health Bar Remaining)
Swords of Justice Faelin moves to the other side of the battlefield, and starts controlling the swords from the statues. He elevates them and makes them fall to the ground with force. He is immune while performing this move. The swords will remain in the battlefield. Move to an area where there is no sword in the air.
Upward Attack + Swords of Justice Upgraded move from 1st phase, this time upward attacks causes floating swords to fall down  Look if there are sword on the ground and stay near them to avoid additional damage.
Phase 3 (25% Health Bar Remaining)
Sword Impalement Faelin will yell or grunt and jump to the sky, attempting to impale you with his sword. Dodge to either side. Dangerous move, as it can one-shot even with max health, near heavy armor and on Veteran difficulty
Phantom Slash Faelin will yell and try to perform a long distance slash, that deals high damage.  Dodge to Faelin's left side and punish
Impostor's Wrath After both "Sword Impalement" and "Long distance Slash", Faelin shouts and jumps into the sky, turning into the cloud that travels the arena. In the meantime, there are numerous swords falling from the ground. The higher the difficulty is, the more swords are present on the arena. Their area of effects is visible on the ground, so simply move outside target arena,
Energy Rain  Faelin creates a "cloud" of energy balls that rain energy on an area. As soon as you see the energy balls forming, leave the marked area.

Remnant 2 Faelin Notes & Trivia and Gallery

  • Bug: It is somehow possible to get achievement for killing this boss without killing this boss. Can't precisely say how, as I was surprised too, but it seems that some sort of leaving game while trying to beat this boss may cause this issue and trigger the achievement.

Man this guy was tough. Took me 15-20 tries. By the end I could reliably get him to the 3rd phase with no damage. Key was to simply stay close to the entrance to the arena where both his big dropping swords and his firing squad orbs do not reach. Then it's a matter of getting good at neutral backstepping his sword swings, of which there's a good few variations. No real way around that one other than to get good.

Third phase is a doozy, mostly because you have such small damage windows and hard punishes if you get caught during the sword explosions, which due to the small damage window you'll probably have to run 5-7 times. I had luck with simply keeping my eyes on the ground and running is the straightest path possible. If you get stuck with nowhere to go, a region that just exploded is usually a safe bet. Also if you do end up too close to him when he does his ground pound (i.e., can't just walk out of range), you can i-frame through it. Takes a few tries to get it right but that will save you a whole lot of panic if you're comfortable with that dodge timing. Good luck dudes

      • This dude was a little more frustrating to fight than the average boss. Not because he was harder, but because he seemed to be doing everything he could to not actually let me fight him.

Faelin King lives in the Light Realm.
Faerin King lines in the Dark Realm.

Pull the leaver in front of the 2 Kings Mural to switch from Light to Dark Realms (where you put the Faelin/Faerin Mural Pieces in the floor)

Kill Faelin - rewards Deceit - Long Gun.
Then go talk to Faerin after kill - rewards Faerin's Sigil - Ring.

Alternate Kill Faerin - rewards Godsplitter - Melee Weapon.
Then go talk to Faelin after kill - rewards Faelin's Sigil - Ring.

Alternate Reward 3 - Once you have both Faerin's & Faelin's Sigils (rings), combine them by talking to Nimue (goddess of Realms) to make the One True King Sigil - Amulet.
Note: combining the rings removes them from your character, so you will have to go get them again.

Hidden Reward 4 - Wearing the One True King Sigil (Amulet) and standing next to the giant Statue at the front gate (directly down one outside main entrance stairs from 2 Kings Mural) the statue rises up to give Unsullied Heart relic.

Spiteful, elemental resist on apoc and i wanna ****ing die rn, all in all a good boss but phase 3 is so annoying

This is leaps and bounds more difficult than Faerin (at least on Nightmire, first run). Like night and day, not even the same league. Seems similar at first, but oh boy. Really showcases the god-afwul hitboxes and animaton-to-actual hit in this game sometimes. I frame by frame got it on record and his sword swing was 4 meters away from me but it registered a hit the next frame. Utter bs.

gotta love all the doofuses complaining that it’s too hard…. ON APOCALYPSE. are you guys daft? it’s APOCALYPSE. it’s supposed to be “too hard.” that’s literally the point of the that difficultly. it’s not supposed to be “tough but fair,” it’s supposed to be the toughest challenge only for those who are the best at this game. no one is making you play on Apocalypse, play the game on the difficulty that’s fun for you. “but i wont get one single gun!”. yeah.., that sounds like a you problem. you can’t always get what you want. i doubt i’ll bother with apocalypse, and that’s FINE. quit being greedy and acting like the game owes you every item in it just because you bought it. if that’s your mentality, hen just cheat and mod the crap in… or you know… get better at the damn game.

                ****ing hell

                • i hate this guy so much. he has around 40% DR (atleast for 1st and 2nd phase,) the bleed damage from twisting wounds doesn't do any damage, but bleed from merciless damages him. the shockwave from stonebreaker is super inconsistent because he floats off the ground slightly. his "grab" attack always oneshots me, and his homing projectiles are just annoying because you have to focus on not getting hit by them while he rushes you with his sword. i hadn't had this much trouble on apoc until this guy, and he has the final segment i need. i know i should just "git gud" but oml.

Another complete BS insta kill boss fight, it’s impossible to dodge with heavy armor and I really enjoyed this game until trying apocalypse, this just not fun at all anymore. The nightweaver has two insta kill moves too, it’s awesome doing 45 minutes worth of fighting to be insta killed 20 times every single time

melee build enjoyers rejoice, once you enter go to either side and bait him once he is close enough go around him to force him into the corner (bastard keeps walking back otherwise) unleash your furry depending on how good your build you can get him straight into the second phase without dying, 2nd phase is a bit of a cancer for melee, and for the last phase try sticking near the walls since his dash would put him far away from you and hinder you unable to melee him all you need is a proper position and after he dashes that is all of phase 3 done with good amounts of damage

Really good and interesting fight. Where most bosses are mindless screaming monsters or lunatics, there are stakes to his confrontation, three phases, and different rewards based on what you choose (Faerin or Faelin). Might be one of my favorite fights in any souls game.
