Chain of Commandlocked mod

Harpoon Mode: Fire Harpoon to mark target causing primary fire to become Homing Rounds dealing 15% reduced damage. Enemies hit by Homing Rounds build Influence. Recasting exits Mode. When Influence fills, Monarch automatically reloads and creates a shockwave, and wielder becomes a Tyrant, gaining 20% Increased Damage and Infinite Reserves. Lasts 20s.

An once-beautiful weapon, rumored to corrupt its wielder with absolute power.

Monarch is a Long Gun and one of the Weapons in Remnant 2. Monarch is a long gun with a built-in harpoon designed to ensnare enemies, capable of causing significant damage. This weapon can be swift and brutal at medium to long ranges. It is a brand new Long Gun debuting in the Remnant 2 The Awakened King DLC.

As a fervent observer of the world around me and a cognoscente of history, I can assure you that once a being of power makes a quarry of you, the only choice is to never be seen in their presence again. For once caught, such individuals scarcely ever break free.

Remnant 2 Monarch Notes & Trivia

  • A sophisticated gun with a built-in harpoon for entrapping your enemies and bending them to your will. In the same vein as a tyrannical monarch, its form of justice is swift and brutal, and-its rule is absolute.
  • Long Guns are the primary weapon used by the player character, they are vital to defeating Enemies and Bosses and can be crafted from items dropped by them. They can also be rewarded from events, and some are sold by Merchants
  • Updated with the release of The Forgotten Kingdom DLC. Check Patch Notes for more information. Properly scales with mod duration bonuses.

Something I haven't seen mentioned here is that passive Mod Power generation also works with Monarch. Normally, you can only charge up its "mod" by shooting the harpoon and then hitting enough homing shots. However, if you have some passive mod regen, like Cataloger's Jewel or Fearie Needle, Monarch's "mod" will gain power as well. When it's fully charged, you only need one homing shot to go Tyrant. Pretty useful trick if you find yourself running out of ammo often.

Worth noting that for technical purposes this weapon's mod DOES function like an actual mod, in that it has mod power which is exclusively generated through harpoon damage, benefits from mod boosting effects, and triggers items that proc on mod use as well when you go Tyrant mode.

Treat this gun like the Plasma Cutter. It is a beam weapon with projectiles. My suggestion, run this with Challenger/Rampage - Gunslinger/Bulletstorm. Use Insulation Driver with Dried Clay Ring (Relic use with Challenger gives 2 more Bulwark stacks for more damage). Haste actually helps quite a bit combined with Ring of Infinite Damage and Mythic Fire Rate relic shard as well as the above archetype skills to give some serious fire rate (+75% total iirc). The 2 skills + the mod give multiple ways of infinite ammo reserves and auto reloads so ammo isnt really a concern suprisingly.

One of the tricks I have learned is to use the mod and to turn off the homing shots once it is fully built up so you no longer suffer the 15% damage penalty and only recieve the 20% damage bonus. With that said, the homing shots are situationally incredible - for example, the Monarch boss in Yaesha, the grenade boss in Losomn, and the teleporting archers in Yaesha. Just learn when to use them, and when to turn it off for more damage.

I also use Momentum + Devoured Loop. The extreme firerate with nearly 100% crit chance (use the mythic crit chance relic) means Devoured Loop procs very consistantly before both skills end. Just ensure you do not cast Rampage until the skill fully runs out - it just wastes the charge and does not refresh the duration unlike Bulletstorm.

Overall the gun is a monster if you give it what it wants - firerate and crits. Probability Chord helps quite a bit too.

I absolutely slept on that weapon. Even maxed out, it is weaker than the Typewriter in every single category. BUT! It makes up for that easily with its harpoon. I can not overstate just how powerful "magnetic bullets" are that home in onto your harpooned target. I will say that it is better on bosses and minibosses than on random mobs, but that might be just me missing out again due to the spread and speed of the bullets.
Currently, I use it with Momentum as mutator. Nightweaver's Grudge as Amulet. My rings are: Atonement Fold, Probability Cord, Devouring Loop, and Dying Ember. Gunslinger as main with Bulletstorm, and Challenger with Rampage. Choose your favorite relic, and put ranged crit chance, ranged crit damage, and fire rate on it. You guessed it! It's a crit build. Fold activates both the amulet, and Ember. Cord and Loop are their own stories, but they fit in just right, usually allowing you to spam your skills and do good damage while at it.
Hope it helps, and have a good day everyone.

Unlisted feature - the Homing Rounds actually have piercing properties up until they reach the Harpoon impact point. Can effectively plant a harpoon as a trap, back up around a corner and just blast away at oncoming enemies, piercing through all of them so long as you curve your bullets right. This gun is becoming more and more fun the longer I use it, but the bugged scaling does feel bad.

              • For those wondering, there seems to be a bug with Monarch and Anguish that make them scale like standard weapons. So your +10 Monarch does the damage its supposed to do at +5. I hope it gets patched soon.

Jester's Bell combo'd with this is decent as the mod is "Always available", that's to say the harpoon counts for mod activation. Decent synergy if you want to build around that type of thing.

                  • Monarch is a gun you have to build around. It’s royalty, and you’re gonna treat it as such. You aren’t going to just slap this into a build that isn’t gun specific. The monarch doesn’t bow to you. You bow to it. So if you’re like me and you want to make this gun good let me suggest the following.

First. Forget mid power build up. You’re going to get the mod in this pretty fast, and the animation that plays when you slam the ground can potentially screw you. Watch out for explosive barrels, and try to time it wisely in boss fights.

Twisting wounds. Max it. With the high fire rate you’ll get a crit pretty fast. Once I realized how often this thing can proc bleed with twisting wounds I knew it was the way to go.

Ravager’s icon for bosses. Energized neck coil for everything else. Ravager will increase your damage against bleeding targets, which are bleeding because of twisting wounds. Regular enemies die too quickly for that to matter, so energized neck coil is nice. The explosion also helps with crowd control.

Wind hollow circle. Get that reload speed up.

Band of the fanatic. With the high fire rate you’ll be proccing bleed too fast for the shorter duration to matter.

Red ring of death. On my monarch build it is the only gun to proc a status, so this ring is insanely useful. Double bleed is great.

Last ring is whatever you want it to be. I like running whatever the ring is that gives you more ammo.

Obviously using HuGs, but I’ve found that you can throw handler as a secondary to good effect too.

And whatever secondary/melee you use make sure you pick something that can deal with mobs or close range. Energized neck coil helps with mobs, but sometimes you just have to use an explosive.

With the above I’ve had good success. I usually run tranquil heart with maxed regrowth and siphoner, so I get my health back quickly.

This has become one of my favorite guns. All because I built around it.

damage might be low but i wish they buff it crit damage up for extra 30% and faster projectile speed. everything else about this gun is very fun and decent, tag 1 enemy from the back line (priority of the most HP enemy) and slowly ricochet shot every single enemy to the tagged target.

Dont you have to kill him while he has his power up withe the flames on his chest? In some Video i believe someone said that

                        • This is incredibly fun. Being able to turn the mod off or on at will has saved my bacon a few times. It allows me to deal with multiple targets at a moment’s notice. It also means if I miss with the harpoon I’m not shooting at the wall constantly.

Scaling seems bugged. Usually, the "special" weapons that go to +10 have a ~20% damage increment per level, this one however only gets 10% like the guns that scale to +20.
As of now, it gets outperformed by the Typewriter in nearly every regard.

I don't understand the design of this gun. Why does it have a secondary fire that shoots the harpoon and then continues to fire weaker 15% weaker homing projectiles AND can only build mod power in this mode to have a standard fire that's 5% stronger than the basic one with infinite ammo? Why doesn't the secondary fire just shoot the harpoon and then switch to the normal fire causing the projectiles to be weaker and home in and always build mod power?
This has the most backwards design I've seen so far in the game because the standard fire does absolutely nothing.

Cool weapon but lame mod, so theres a class that dodges for you and now a weapon that aims for you? cringe

Monarch + Momentum Mutator + Burden of the Gambler Ring + Probability Cord Ring

May require Archon as well, but makes for infinite ammo seeking shots that almost always crit for double damage after spinning up. Shoot around walls, shoot over walls, shoot under bridges, never miss and stay out of danger. There is better damage out there, of course, but quite fun.
