A classic Tommy Gun with large ammo capacity and a slow reload. Poor initial accuracy which improves while holding down the trigger. |
Chicago Typewriter is a Long Gun and one of the Weapons in Remnant 2. Chicago Typewriter is a surprisingly efficient makeshift Tommy Gun in combat. It shines in short-range encounters, utilizing its large ammo capacity and rapid rate of fire to effectively suppress enemies.
Sure, it might not hit the broad side of a barn, but this baby sure can spit out some lead. It's not about being accurate, it's about putting enough bullets downrange to get the job done.

Remnant 2 Chicago Typewriter Notes & Trivia
- This makeshift gun appears to be cobbled together from various scraps and parts, but it's a deadly weapon, nonetheless. Despite its rough exterior it can fire with surprising efficiency.
- Long Guns are the primary weapon used by the player character, they are vital to defeating Enemies and Bosses and can be crafted from items dropped by them. They can also be rewarded from events, and some are sold by Merchants.

The absolute strongest weapon in the game for a pure ranged DPS build. I can manage over 3000 dps sustained on target dummies, and that's without triggering bleed or perfect dodge which are both essential to max DPS.
Gunslinger+Sharpshooter, Bulletstorm+Hunters Mark (hunters focus is far too difficult to maintain). Rings/amulets focused on crit chance/damage, bleed mutator crit on bleed amulet

The sound of this gun is the main reason I'll never use it over Bonesaw. I've seen Nerf guns with punchier sounds than this.

"Hey man why are you letting your gun overheat?
-What do you mean?
You hold onto the trigger like how your girl grabs your **** man, let go of it once in a while
-what?
Man just tap the trigger
'5 minutes later
-Wow, I actually spent a whole mag without heat dumping.
Okay, buddy overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer."

So for the people who come here for opinions, this gun is a solid side-grade to the bonesaw. Trading the overheat drawback for less than half the damage and a faster fire rate. Typewriter benefits from steroids like rampage where the bonesaw has issues and building crit and damage where the bonesaw has harder time. But Bonesaw's innate crushing damage difference rewards more precise and thoughtful firefights and doesn't require the perfect ring setup to get that value. It's the medic starting gun so they can focus on their role instead of their DPS. Also the overheat bs in these comments can be prevented by pacing yourself, filling the bar is not mandatory for maximum damage, I promise. And the TLDR on the range difference is the bonesaw has a golden medium range where it's still strong, but the damage taper from the typewriter is MUCH slower making it still pretty good even at medium but it is still ultimately outperformed (admittedly barely) by Bonesaw at 35+ meters.
This weapon is just straight up better than the bonesaw. I ran the numbers, and even at max upgrade the typewriter's got a whole 12 DPS less than the bone saw or just over a third of a bullet. The trade-offs Far outweigh that, as it doesn't have the heat mechanic which forces the bone saw to only fire 49 shots before you have to stop for two whole seconds to let the heat gauge go back down so you don't spend seven or eight seconds shaking your hot hands. This means the typewriter has 31 more bullets It can fire before it's reload which is only about 3 seconds or so, And it only has to do that three times in total before it runs out of ammo versus six times stopping for 2 seconds plus a 8 second reload for the bone saw. All in all you do about 25% more damage with the typewriter before you have to stop firing And they both take about 45 seconds to do all of their firing and reloading and heat gauge waiting. We haven't even gotten into the mutators, because bandit is just objectively the best for guns like these but the bones saw literally can't benefit from it. Even if it's putting bullets back in the chamber, it's still only 49 shots before you have to stop for 2 seconds so it makes no difference whereas the typewriter gets about 25 more ammo per magazine that way. The worst part is that the bone saw literally cannot benefit from fire rate buffs like what the bandit gives, because firing 10% faster means you only fire 44 shots before you have to stop losing you about five bullets or half a second worth of DPS. Compare this to the typewriter with bandit, which effectively gets another 80ed bullets and 12.1 rounds per second

Did this in adventure mode. Armor spawned but no gun. Rerolled story mode and did it again. Same story, but no armor to ease the suffering. F*** this gun

Feel like it might work well with bandit mutator and the fire bullets mod

Not much to write home about (pun intended). Barely worth the hassle.

Anyone worked out how to get it yet? I can see it through a window where I picked up the MP60-R SMG but have no idea how to get to it.

Figuring how this was the rarest and hardest gun I ever saw in Remnant 1, and the coolest biggest mag, with the rare ass spawn event and keeping both the chicks alive was near impossible, some1 went space bar crazy wanting the gun behind the door and eventually found a specific glitch with precise distance facing away from door and hard angle and do a 1 tap dodge and you can get through the door. BTW ixis twins were the gnarliest boss on hardest difficulty , constant dodging, this gun gave u little milli seconds to flick a few bullets inbetween dodges. -Modern Day, I load remnant 2 and am shown the chicago bullet typer on my first login. Ironic, Odd, juxtaposed, rewarding. It feels like one of those , languages suck pick whatever word describes that best to you.. BLAT BLAT BLAT..
