Hardened Iron is an Upgrade Material in Remnant 2. Hardened Iron is a remarkable material known for its impressive strength and surprisingly lightweight properties. It is favored for crafting durable weapons and armor due to its exceptional properties. It is primarily used for upgrading Weapons to high-tier levels.
Remnant 2 Hardened Iron Usage
Hardened Iron is used to upgrade Weapons at Don "Rigs" Rigler.
- Can be used to upgrade Regular Weapons
- Can be used to upgrade Special Weapons
How to Get Hardened Iron in Remnant 2
Unlock Requirement : Starts to drop at Locations power level of 16+
- Can be found in all worlds as random drops
- Can be bought from Cass (stock rotates, so may be rare) at Ward 13 for 300

I just found some in Beatific Palace (place shouldn't matter), Power Level 16, Zone Level 17.

Drops happen before power level 18. I have 5 archtypes lvl 10 and all 3 weapons that I have equipped are level 15 and can't be upgraded without hardened iron. Currently power level 17 and am seeing hardened iron in the world. It is not possible for me to upgrade further without hardened iron. They did not show up at 14. Not sure about 15 or 16, but 100% show up at power level 17.

I got some in a power level 17 n'erud area, I do have all my weapons at the point where they require hardened iron
I found that I got none at area level 17 but once it become an area level of 18 they started to spawn. No upgrades in my build no increased power level just moved from an 17 level to an 18 one and they started to spawn
You must have a long gun, handgun and a melee weapon that all need this material to upgrade for it to start spawning. It will spawn on any difficulty once you meet those requirements.

To get that you need to be at least in World Level 18...since in 17 it wont drop..

It's possible this only exists in Nightmare and Apocalypse difficulties, as I have not seen any in multiple Veteran campaigns.

anyone know why i havent been getting any ? i cleared 4 worlds on adventure + finished story. my finger gun is level 7 and i have 0 hardened iron

Hardened Iron can start dropping as early as level 14 on Apocalypse difficulty. That said, it’s a rare chance with drop rate as low as 5%.
