Manticora From the Drain is an Event in Remnant 2. Manticora From the Drain is a random event that occurs in Losomn that allows players to obtain the Philosopher's Stone. Events are situations where a player can obtain special Items like Weapons or Consumables for solving a puzzle or finding a secret area. These events may or may not appear during your play through, requiring a restart or an adventure mode play for a chance of getting them. All Events are bound to their corresponding Locations.
Remnant 2 Manticora From the Drain Walkthrough
While exploring the area, you can be dragged by a Manticora if you stand close to a drain. It will take you to its lair, and you will have to fight it there. This Manticora is not special in any way, only that it has this event. It isn't stronger than the normal counterpart.
Note that the event can be triggered near any drain in the area. A roar can be heard as well as small lights that flicker around the drain in which the Manticora is hiding in.
When you defeat this Manticora it will drop the Philosopher's Stone.
Where to Find Manticora From the Drain in Remnant 2
Manticora From the Drain can be found in the following Locations:
- Losomn
- In multiplayer, after the first person gets grabbed the others have to die and then you all will wake up in the manticore arena.
- Avoid triggering a checkpoint after a party member has been grabbed in order to spawn inside the arena. Otherwise your party will respawn at the checkpoint crystal.

- If you have the Invader archetype at least level 5, you can use the Worm Hole ability to warp up onto the ledge where the event would have you leave the arena after you complete it - it takes some finagling, but I've found the best results when standing at the edge of the pile of rubble next to the wall on the left, aiming for somewhere around the top-left corner of the protruding brick from the ledge above, as shown in the video. Once done, walk from the ledge to the far end of the arena where your character would normally wake up after processing the event normally, and the manticora should spawn in the arena like normal. I made this video to showcase my method, although the wiki doesn't seem to want to let me post its URL, so I suppose just copy this onto the regular youtube URL.

AnonymousIn multiplayer hardcore mode if one person gets grabbed, what do the other players have to do to join them in the manticora's lair? Won't unaliving themselves count as a death? Let's assume no one has Invader lvl 5, so they can't do that warp trick.

Fun fact: Ritualist can actually find a manticore in the drain before it grabs you. The infection prime perk spreads status to all nearby enemies, and for some reason that includes a manticore in a drain. It won't take damage and it's too far in to see bleeding, acid, or burning, but you CAN see a shock explosion, tipping you off that you can get grabbed there. Just make sure you are paying attention, you have to kill an enemy inflicted with shock for it to spread and that usually means you are too busy fighting other enemies to notice the sparks in the drain.
Has anyone had this on Forsaken Quarter or Brocwithe Quarter? Feel like I've only seen the lair on Morrow Parish and Ironborough.

Does NOT kill your hardcore character anymore. I just tested it with a fresh one in the most recent patch including DLC.

got this event while another person had joined so I just died and now I HAVE THE GRATE IT CAME FROM but it wont do it again

Encountered this once Very, VERY early on. Probably my 2nd Sewer I walked up to In Losomn. fresh into the game and randomly Rat man Comes to the bars and swipes at me and misses.
Thought oh wow that was neat I wonder If I can shoot him if I'm fast enough and Have ran up and Licked EVERY. SINGLE. SEWER. SINCE. And haven't seen it again. Three runs through Losomn now two of which being in Adventure and I'm Now upset Looking up this Event and finding out what I actually missed out on cause APPARENTLY THE MANTICORE CAN FAIL TO GRAB YOU IF YOU DONT HOLD STILL. WHY?
If you're hunting this encounter be sure to walk up and Hug the freaking Hole I suppose don't miss out on it like me.

Warning! The event kills your HARDCORE characters. Most likely it's a bug, I found a horribly bad workaround - if you get grabbed by the manticora you must alt + F4, you need to do it asap after the animation started though - as far as I could notice the game registers you as dead after getting hit by the tail. If you do that, your character will be alive and wake up in his lair - so you can also get the alchemist unlocked on hardcore. I'd still heavily suggest to make a backup of your save games if you want to try that, forcequitting always poses risks in terms of damaging/losing save/game-files

There's two seperate versions: Tiller's Rest and Morrow's Parish. If you get pulled into the drain and wake-up in Morrow's Parish that's the one that drops the stop. If you wake up in Tiller's Rest that's where you get the outfit.

I found my stone in one of morrow parish's drains after killing the manticora not sure if this is where a lot of ppl will get theirs in their end. But I hope this is where u get yours.

I got this event, but only got a ring out of it. I was playing on the easiest mode, maybe that's why?

i was doing this in hardcore co-op and it bugged the game out saying that there were enemies nearby so we couldn't exit to main menu, even in the ward, we finally closed our games and went back in and our characters were dead
I got an event an event just like this in the server level, I was dragged down the drain and my mate killed himself and we were waking up in anther side part of the level with an exist to the start of the level.It was a very weak normal one I think, we killed it very easy and it dropped nothing.

If you're doing Co-op, have all the partners used the Liquid Escape item first so that they're dead, then check each grate for the event. If anyone but 1 player are alive when it happens, it just kills the extra player and doesn't start the event. Easiest places to check for the grates are in the sewers themselves.
So remember, everyone needs to be dead dead, except one, before that player goes to find the event grate.

Can sometimes bug out, when you "wake up" in the Manticora's lair, you just stay laying on the ground and never get up. Only way to fix it is to exit the game via the system menu or the task manager.
I have seen this event in multiplayer without noticing what it was. BUT it just killed people it dragged in. It did not put them into anther area, I guess the others did not die and we just rezzed them at the stone. I am just playing with some random chinese guy I guess I should do this sole. This game does not even have chat, so trash.

Just found out you can bait the grab and have it miss you by stepping back.

If you die to the Manticora once inside it's arena, the event is over and you can no longer be pulled from the drains. Meaning you have to reset campaign completely if you're searching for the Philospher's Stone.

This event has to happen in the map with the spinning thread woman and the children. The area you are dragged to is on a high ledge on the same map. It won't happen in a side dungeon.

The part where it says if you injure it and it runs is not true I reached the grate before it went in and didn’t get pulled at all

This event fires by seeing a bunch of villagers beating up the rat monster injure it till it begins to run away then go to the drain it entered to get grabbed. If it misses you or you dodge out of the way reset the area and wander around till you find the mob fighting the rat again and repeat the process. It can spawn anywhere I have seen it on bridges, balconies and even inside the gate to the insane asylum (Literally in the gate looked buggy). I did it in Morrow Parish to get the stone.

There are two variants of this event, one in which you get the Philosopher's Stone, and another where you get a ring as a drop but also have the Academic's outfit on a corpse nearby. I've gotten the outfit one three playthroughs in a row in Tiller's Rest, so it may be tied to that location.

Is there a way to reset the event by chance? I am hunting for this event and I triggered it, but I was mid fight when I wandered by a grate. The manticora lunged at me and on reflex I dodged it, then realized "no I wanted that!"

there is a bug.. after killing it u wont get the stone bc the game says it was a normal enemy -.- take care out there!

DO NOT do this event in Hardcore, it will just kill you directly and the character will be determined as wasted

My friend and I discovered this by accident for anyone trying to do this in multiplayer, after the first person gets grabbed the others have to die and then you all will wake up in the manticore arena. At least thats what happened for us.

Just got grabbed in the Great sewers. It dragged me to the other side of the dungeon but only dropped a ring sadly, no stone

Seems to be extremely rare, watched a friend get dragged twice in co-op (just killed them outright) making it seem only doable in single player
yet ive passed these drains over 18 times now in a row to no avail.
does it work on multiplayer too?
