Remnant 2 Shadeskin Notes & Trivia

  • Traits are unique passive abilities that provide bonuses and buffs to a player. There are three types of Traits in the game.
  • Core Traits are common for all four Classes, and are unlocked as soon as you begin the game.
  • Archetype or Class Traits, are locked behind their respective Archetypes, and only one can be equipped one at a time, unless you have the ability to combine any two of your Archetypes.
  • The third type, called simply Traits can be equipped by any Class, but have to be unlocked. Unique Archetype Traits can be leveled up as you level up the corresponding Archetype. On the other hand, the rest require Trait Points in order to be upgraded. Note that they cap at level 10.

This page seems like the best spot to share info on elemental damage and related resistance:

      - Elemental resistance also applies to "hit" damage, not just the status effect debuff.
      - All damage reduction including from armor does NOT apply to elemental damage and appears to only affect physical damage.
      - Bleed is physical damage and not elemental damage.
      - Similar to normal damage reduction, elemental resistance cannot reduce damage by more than 80%.
      - Sources of reduced damage taken that do not appear in your in-game Stats page as either damage reduction or elemental resistance are separate damage multipliers that CAN allow you to take a 'total' of over 80% less damage; an example being having 80% fire resistance and 80% friendly fire reduction from kinship, which would multiple together making you take 96% less fire damage from yourself or teammates.

Silly question but if I have already reached the dmg reduction cap of 80% through other means will this trait do anything for me or will it be dead weight?

If you want to save him and you see he catches fire, you can unalive yourself and try again. Event will restart.

I maxed this out thinking that there would be a lot of elemental enemies at some point, did I just waste all my trait points

I saved him. I don't know if there was a trick to it, maybe everyone else starts shooting too soon? That's my hunch, anyway. I waited and watched for a bit, like a psychopath, and then when the first villager with a torch spawned in I shot him. After that all the villagers attacked--and occassionally another with a torch would come running in. I'd just pick them off before they could light the fire. In the end, I didn't press any buttons or levers to let the guy down, he just set himself free when the fight was over.

I don't think I got a reward out of it other than the perk, he gave me some dialogue about the people being crazy and that there are monsters lurking around and killing them one by one. They pretend they can't see them, but he can see them. When he tried telling them about the monsters, they called him a traitor tried to burn him, and that's about the gist of it. Seemed like a bloodbourne reference. I asked if there are others like him, and he said there is, which I think was an allusion to the boss later, the "unburnt" lady.

Does anyone know what's different if you save the hanging man vs leaving him? I tried to shoot the chain because I didn't realize there was a crank, and once the fire started I was unable to get the guy down so I just killed everybody else and got this trait.

This is dropped by the hanging "Dran"(?) in Butcher's Quarter. It does not appear to matter if you kill everyone or not, as the fire will magically turn on. I have found no other way to finish the boss fight, even though there is a yellow crosshair when aiming at the gallows. Additionally, if you leave and return after a few minutes, you will find the Singed Ring, which grants 10% damage bonus against burning enemies.
