Remnant 2 Fortify Notes & Trivia
- Traits are unique passive abilities that provide bonuses and buffs to a player. There are three types of Traits in the game.
- Core Traits are common for all four Classes, and are unlocked as soon as you begin the game.
- Archetype or Class Traits, are locked behind their respective Archetypes, and only one can be equipped one at a time, unless you have the ability to combine any two of your Archetypes.
- The third type, called simply Traits can be equipped by any Class, but have to be unlocked. Unique Archetype Traits can be leveled up as you level up the corresponding Archetype. On the other hand, the rest require Trait Points in order to be upgraded. Note that they cap at level 10.

Why are primary traits class locked. Stupid design. A melee build shouldnt need engineer to boost armor.

This trait looks bugged. Its double dipping. Its both increasing your armor value AND increasing how much that armor value gives to damage reduction.
For example (at trait level 8):
42 armor is 17.5% damage reduction with no trait
Add the trait
Im not 60.9 armor and 30.6 damage reduction
If I then take the trait off and put on armor to get exactly 61 armor Im at 23.4 damage reduction.

I think it doesn't work the way it should. Let me explain, I have 110 armor and this gives me a 35.5% damage reduction. When I take this trait of the 10th level, which should increase the effectiveness of armor by 50%, I see in the menu that now armor is 165 as it should be (110 * 1.5 = 165), but the damage reduction is already 55.3%. Such a decrease is typical for 247.5 armor, and for my 165 it should be 45.2%. That is, the trait increases efficiency twice. Is this a bug?

While there is a lot of weird math when it comes to armors diminishing returns, DR itself, and damage bypassing DR, it seems that this trait is more cost effective than Barkskin unless you're doing a naked run.
Probably a dumb question but does armor have any effect on your shield? I mean it reduces incoming damage, so it should decrease the damage your shield takes from a game mechanics perspective. From a logical perspective though that makes very little sense.
