This thing is strong on it's own. paired with neck coil and aoe trait your basically marvels thor. Obliterating encounters from miles away with chain lightning.
It's actual mele mvoeset is a bit lackluster, but the damage and utility it provides, as well as the synergy with elemental and debuff builds makes this by far the best mele weapon vie found so far.

Fitting the Tainted Blade +10 Mutator and wearing the Blood Jewel Ring works absolute wonders for this; you'll be inflicting Overload, Corrosion, and Bleeding with a single throw!

Oddly, Berserker's Seal doesn't seem to affect this weapon from my testing. Anyone else who tries it, sound off and lemmie know if I'm just missing something. But yeah, neither the faster charge speed nor the reduced stamina cost applied. Damn shame - looking to make a build hard focused on this thing and that limits my options somewhat.

I kinda hate how good this weapon is, because I feel like it makes every other melee weapon obsolete. The only other weapon that comes anywhere close is the Huntress Spear, which boasts slightly higher base damage, but lacks the shocking AoE effect. And if you're up against a group of enemies, it really pays off to toss this axe around a lot, since the electricity seems to arc between whoever gets struck, creating a pretty powerful chain reaction.

So far it seems like that's the most versatile melee weapon in the game. Fast, with a quick charge, throwable and applies overload. When paired with Blood Jewel becomes even better, not only because of its damage and BLEED-priming, but also due to its utility when it comes to spotting invisible/teleporting foes. And because half of all enemies are flying, a quarter of them explode and leave AoEs on death and the last quarter has some bs short range anti-melee attack, its probably one of the safest options to use in a melee slot, too.
It was the first melee weapon I found and everything after it felt underwhelming or useless. Even the Huntress Spear, since its slower and doesn't top the axe too much in terms of raw damage to compensate the lack of its own DoT.

Does this deal shock damage in all attacks or just the throw?

Inpect the weapon and rotate it to the right angle and you can interact with it, not sure what quest item to put in though.

I found this Axe and Blood Jewel (melee causes bleed) both in my first area of my first playthrough. The combo is very strong. I later got Deceit (boss weapon w/ melee mod) and became op.

This axe has a lot of build options that is just nuts. I personally tested it out and can confirm the axe throw counts as melee, meaning Transference mutator works on it so cheap and easy ammo in a pinch so its still good on people who just like guns. Also it inflicts overload and does elemental damage on normal melee attacks, meaning it can inflict status ailments for the benefit rings and amulets that boost you by inflicting status ailments.

I hope they bring everything else in line with this, or nerf it into the ground, I'm not picky.
