Iron Greatsword is a Melee Weapon and is one of the Weapons in Remnant 2. Iron Greatsword is a massive and menacing weapon made from flattened railroad tracks. It deals high damage and has a balanced design, allowing for powerful swings that strike fear into the hearts of enemies.
I may be a bit too old to wield this sword, but if I were still in my prime, I might have given it a go. Hell, the sheer size and weight of the thing could make even the Root tremble in fear. Ah, but those days are long gone for me.

Combine this with invader class and obtain the skill to teleport behind enemies and deal 300% More Damage.
And please try to convince me of any other melee weapon.

Highest single hit damage and stagger melee weapon in the game. I've used this on full melee builds and builds that use no melee. Absolute monster. Current highest single damage number I have achieved was with this - 6100. Charged attack with Jughernaut active + Worm Hole buff + Crit + Weakspot on Root Nexus.
This sword is nuts. One shotting multiple mobs in one swing, killing Elites in 3 charged attacks, chunking down boss health bars, it does it all. If you want to do pure melee, I have found no better than BIG SWORD.

Thanks. Was looking for info if investing in the IG would be worth it. It has very high base dmg. And I love a good bashing Bam bam weapon

That thing was too big to be called a sword. Too big, too thick, too heavy, and too rough, it was more like a large hunk of iron.

The IG holds up incredibly well even in the "Late Game" and at higher difficulty levels. So, don't be surprised (or maybe you should be) if you find yourself not feeling guilty about investing upgrade materials into it during your playthrough(s).
In my experience, a melee weapon's main function in this game is to attack mobs that get too close and make lining up a shot difficult, basically, a desperation attack to hold back crowding. Of the melee weapons I've unlocked in the game so far, the Iron Greatsword BY FAR is the best weapon in this role. It's powerful enough to kill many mobs outright with a single swing even when not upgraded, and the swings are wide enough to catch multiple enemies per swing, ensuring easy crowd control. Absolutely worth obtaining and upgrading, it's a no-frills, straighforward ass-saver
