Alien DeviceCrafting Material |
---|
Caliper isn't quite the right term for this instrument, but "magic wand" seemed too fantastic a term. The measurements it makes are performed at a subatomic level, in units that don't even exist in human tongues. |

Alien Device is a Crafting Material in Remnant 2. Alien Device is a magical instrument of precise measurements, reflecting the Drzyr's ability to manipulate molecules and create astonishing wonders. It is a required to craft the Drzyr Caliper Engram.
Whereas the Astropaths set our sights outward, the Xul looked inward. Stars, machines, animals, Drzyr--we are all made of the same fundamentals. We may be stardust with the ability to think about itself, but we are stardust all the same.
Therefore, if one can manipulate a single molecule, one can manipulate all of creation.
Remnant 2 Alien Device Usage
Alien Device can be used to craft the Drzyr Caliper Engram, unlocking the Engineer archetype. Requires 10 Lumenite Crystal and 1,000 Scrap
How to Get Remnant 2 Alien Device
Alien Device can be found on N'Erud, on the ground in a toxic and foggy alcove hidden along the perimeter of the Timeless Horizon or The Eon Vault regions.
To locate the entrance to the alcove, look for a unique formation of stalagmites along the edge of the fog as depicted below. A raised platform with stalagmites along it's right edge will mark the left side of the entrance, and a row of stalagmites with a larger spire in behind forming a sort of wall will mark the right side. Note that the alcove does not appear on the map until it is entered, and the edge of the map will appear completely non-descript until then.
WARNING: Entering the toxic fog builds up a blight status bar which, when filled, results in Instant Death.
- Despite having a similar appearance to the Curse blight, Instant Death is a separate affliction. Purified Salve does not remove Instant Death status accumulation and blight resistance does not slow the status buildup; death occurs after ~16s at both 0 and 198 blight resist.
While within the fog, movement is regularly slowed and interrupted by vomiting. The vomiting animation can be avoided by continuously dodging, but any pause to collect items or climb ledges may result in the vomit animation triggering, leading to potentially fatal delays in escaping.
Using the Alchemist Archetype's Vial: Stone Mist skill will allow you to survive N'Erud's Instant Death Blight fog for an extended period of time.
Attempting to collect the Alien Device (without Vial: Stone Mist effect) then return to safety outside the fog without dying is extremely difficult and is not recommended for solo Hardcore characters. Hardcore characters are encouraged to have an ally wait near a worldstone or checkpoint to revive them, or to unlock the Engineer archetype on a non-hardcore character first. As with all other hidden Archetypes, once Engineer is unlocked on one character the item required to craft its engram becomes available to purchase from Wallace in Ward 13 for all other characters on the same account.
The nearby Technician armor set is slightly less hazardous to collect and is easier to retrieve without dying.
Immediately inside the alcove is a ledge that drops down to the area where the Alien Device is located. The Alien Device will be on the ground at the back left of the lower area, marked with a yellow item icon (similar to scrap or metal). The need to climb back up the ledge at the entrance to escape the fog makes it difficult to collect this item without dying.
To the right of the entrance is a raised platform with a corpse wearing the Technician armor set, which will be highlighted purple. This platform can be jumped to from the entrance, and collecting the armor then jumping back to escape the fog without dying is risky but viable.
View from just inside the alcove entrance. The edge of the platform with the Technician set and the approximate locations of the items are highlighted.
Map view of the Alien Device hidden alcove after entering. Approximate locations of the Alien Device (yellow/orange) and Technician set (purple) are indicated.

I can't believe someone genuinely thought that running around the entire perimeter of the map to look for a rock formation that is just slightly different from the millions of procedurally generated ones around the map was a good idea.
What a fun and engaging mechanic, not tedious at all.

the alchemist's stoneskin vial grants immunity to the fog, but you will still vomit if you stop rolling

On at least one of the Timeless Horizon tiles, the entrance to this secret area is almost straight Up/North from the entrance to the Astropath's Respite. I've found it in that location on 3 Timeless Horizon maps in a row.

Does anyone try using Amber Moonstone to take it yet? Amber Moonstone show "When the wearer's Health drops below 35%, all incoming damage is reduced by 25% and the wearer becomes immune to Temporary Status Effects". Does it work?

I've seen people claiming that if the Spectrum Nexus appears on the 2nd map, then the Engineer armor is always directly across from it and can be found by just walking out of the area that leads to the Spectrum Nexus and continuing on until you hit fog.
So far, this seems to hold true BUT 1) I haven't done enough testing to confirm this, and 2) I have found instances where the armor spawns but not the Alien Device.

Found alien Device and Technician Set in The Eon Vault instead of the Timeless Horizon.
Yet it looked EXACTLY like on the screenshots of this wiki.

I eventually found it, but, man, what an absolutely **** mechanic. I basically had to circumscribe the entire map.
My advice is to wear light armor and possibly rank up the Fitness trait to increase dodge distance, if you spam dodge roll through the poison zone the "puke" mechanic won't kick in and you can cover more ground.

Here are some tips :
1. Alien Device and the suit will always be on the second map.
2. Search around map borders with walls. The entrance will be very visible even with fog, very close to fog border but a bit small. The entrance lookFind nearby checkpoint before trying.
3. Roll constantly to prevent vomiting slowing you down, and prepare to die since you won’t be coming back alive.
4. The suit is guaranteed to spawn, but not the Device. If you don’t see the device, you need to reroll. Happened to me once.
5. From my experience, the layout is exactly the same. The suit is on the right ledge you need to jump to (easy if you roll constantly). The Alien Device will be at 90 degree on the left from the suit and at a leap distance from the ledge.
Hope this helps.

Has anyone tried the red kings crown or other rings for curse resistance to see if it takes longer to die in the fog?

Just to make it a bit clearer, the rocks in the image above are not IN the mist but right on the border. Your looking for a terrain formation that sits just outside the mist.

worst ****ing idea, it's like puting a leap of faith in a 2d platformer, just die until you find it by miracle.

This is asinine. The wiki is zero help and the "rock formation" doesn't show up unless you go into the poison zone. The wiki suggest using the Purified Salve and it has zero effect.

This page states that you CAN use Curse salve to clear the debuff while the page for Dryzir Caliper Engram states that you CANNOT use it.
Really sad how after years of being the most popular game wiki it still contains more misinformation than information.

Combed the entire outer rim but can't find that rock formation but there is a big building that makes it so you cant see a corner of the rim without dieing to the fog. Could it be there?

Do NOT follow the advice of people posting images of what the mini map looks like. You will NOT see that structure appear on the minimap until you've already entered it. Strafing the perimeter and watching the minimap will lead you to conclude it is not there. The rock formation shown in the article's picture is the only reliable clue. It is not obscured by the fog. Raised rock with stalagmites on the left. Stalagmites at ground level on the right.

There seems to always be TWO SQUARES on the ground near the point you need to go to off the map at.

So i found it rather easily by using the lvl 10 explorer skill, it seems the layout of the entrance will always be the same (Semi open gap with stalagtites on the right and an elevated platform on the left)
https://imgur.com/NOs1MIT I found mine on the aeon vault map type. Seems it can spawn anywhere around the edge of the map so keep your eyes peeled

Would appreciate if you could add this image towards the screenshot in the post.
I've a more direct screen from the area where it needs to be. Look around the 2nd Biome around the Corners for this : https://imgur.com/gallery/iX0uqa6
Description wrong again. Its not necessarily "near the Titan's Reach stone" people editing this wiki should get that the game is randomized. You better search all maps edges! My map had 4 exists and it THE ONE THE FARTHEST AWAY from that stone! So I searched like a lunatic because of this wrong description. Its in the 2nd map of the biome, people say its 100% spawn, just search all exists. Found the Alien Device and the Technician armor there.
If you found the tech armor, drop down on the left and find the yellowish glow. THAT is the alien device.

Finally found the place it’s in the fog but you can see some signs of where it is before you go in there should two stalagmites about three character width apart from what I’ve seen on other guides this seems like it’s 100% what it will look like equip light armour and dodge roll through the spires to avoid the vomiting animation and you should spot the armor if you don’t see the armor right away or in doubt watch your map the area will appear as you enter if it’s the right place

I found the engineer armor, but I couldn't find the device anywhere around

I just found it on Timeless Horizon, there was no Titans Reach on this world. The closest Landmark was the entrance to Spectrum Nexus. Here is the map: https://imgur.com/Crf3HZe
I don't see why or how it would be tied to any other location on the map.
It was not visible until I took a few steps into the fog, then I stood on a ledge and had to jump across, but at this point I could see the armor on the ledge I could jump to. So you probably don't have to die to find the place, but I did die after picking it up.

Titans reach worldstone not in my playthrough. Any alternate locations?
My advice. Set up for a high skill recharge, then use Ritualists Miasma as a crappy radar/lidar to find the area. It also doesn't appear in the map until you find the area and set foot there. Look for some stalactites[The standing up rocks], that's what I did.
