Blood Moon Essence

Crafting Material

Your eyes slide off the globe like water. It's as if the thing prevents you from looking at it, feeling it, or even keeping its shape in your mind.

Blood Moon Essence is a Crafting Material in Remnant 2. Blood Moon Essence is an indescribable globe that eludes examination, linked to the essence of change and heralding tumultuous times.

There are many who believe the Blood Moon means death--and with good reason --but the essence of the Blood Moon is change. And change comes in many forms though few that are pleasant for the thing that must evolve.

I played 60 hours and i've seen blood moon 12-15 times? And i only farmed for it once, got all 65 essence on my first run. You gotta be pretty bad to fail at this event. Just play yaesha and look for the hints of blood moon. Other games like this, has 0 effort into getting good weapons or rare items, classes. You just get them by progressing, which is pure garbage for a souls game. You should be happy that the devs made something unique, rather than cry about everything that is too hard. Even though it's easy as hell and only should be difficult for a newnew player starting out in yaesha and still learning the basics.

I like the game, but this is just stupid ill try 1 more time and uninstal. Rng is very cool but not in this situation and not like this. There is reason why you can unlock clases in other souls like later. Becoulse you can do more or less any build with any clas. In this game you cant.

So much conjecture in this comments section - don't be fooled, blood moon isn't based on your system clock or anything like that
it has a small chance to trigger each time you load into a zone on yaesha, and then lasts for a few more loading screens. Thats it.
Tp to ward 13 and back, or else just walk through a door back and forth till you get it. Be aware that the root wisps will only spawn above houses so find an area that has plenty of them. Once you get a blood moon, you can respawn them by simply going through a fog gate.

this is what i do the spawn blood moon and it works within 10 minutes every time.
Go to Yaesha and kill the mobs between The Widow's Court, Expanding Glade, and The Lament. This will make killing the whisps faster. Go through one of the gates, change your system time to 9:40pm of any day, go back through the gate into Yaesha. If the moon did not spawn, go back through the same gate and make the system time the next day at 9:40pm. Enter the gate back to Yaesha. Rinse and repeat changing the day on the system clock to the next day at 9:40pm and eventually the moon will spawn. After it does run around the map killing whisps. Once you got a good handful go through one of the gates mentioned earlier, *do not change the date or time this time* and just turn around back into Yaesha. The whisps will respawn but the mobs will not.
            Enjoy!

I'm writing for those who are desperate and looking for an easy way like me.
No matter what guide I looked at, none of them worked. Don't read the other assumption comments. Bloodmoon does not have any trigger conditions. Developers said it was completely RNG. It's official information where I read it. I've never killed the Ravager boss and farmed the essences.
Fun fact, I collected them without Blood Moon. I and my friend saw the Blood Moon before but there were no essences... I think Blood Moon event is broken for the time (03.09.2023). Yesterday I made my friend eat me for the glutton trait, he got it but I did not... normally its said everyone gets it.
We were starting to think it was happening because we were playing coop from far locations. I'm in Turkey, my friend is in the Philippines.

About Blood Moon Essence, we farmed like this:
We always rerolled The Red Throne because The Far Woods was closer than Faithless Thicket.
As soon as you enter the world, go left before you get to the Red Throne, there is the gate that opens to The Withering Weald.
Although there was no Blood Moon, the essences began to appear. It's impossible to miss anyway, purple globules flying in the air. If you come across any, know that there are 12 in total spawned. Never sit Checkpoint! Cut them all and exit through the nearest door. Enter back and 12 new essences spawns again. Repeat until no spawn. Then go to Ward 13 with checkpoint, reroll the Red Throne again.
You need "6.950 Scrap, 66 Blood Moon Essence, and 10 Lumenite Crystals" to buy everything from the altar.
Get at least one Sanguine Vapor. As you talk to Mudtooth in Ward 13 with it in the Inventory, he sells the Vapor in his shop from then on, which costs 500 Scrap and doesn't require any Blood Moon Essence.

It seems like if you start adventure mode Yaesha and kill first boss after that blood moon starts. Atleast thats worked for me. I left boss map, blood moon was up, I even used world stone and teleported all the way back into Forbidden Grove because it had better layout.

                • Anonymous

I could be wrong, but it feels like if you kill the Doe and trigger the 'permanent' blood moon in your Yaesha it locks you out of the RNG Blood Moon cycle happening, thus locking you out of collecting Blood Moon Essence.

Easiest way to get the blood moon to spawn is to go to change your system system time forward by 30 minutes and reload the area until you get it. From there just use something with infinite ammo (Engineer or cube gun) and use a side dungeon door to reset the wisp spawns. Happy hunting y'all

When selling blood moon essence to Cass to let your friend get extra, does anyone know how much it costs to buy back?

                      • Anonymous

Unless I'm mistaken, I'm pretty sure you can also farm these by drinking liquid escape (infinite use, in case you don't know) or straight up getting killed. Since there's no real consequences for dying on non-hardcore characters, this is just a better method than going through doors cuz you only need to suffer one loading screen instead of two. Plus you don't have to run back to a checkpoint after you clear the area.

This is not true! "by exiting and re-entering the are via a yellow fog door. " had a a blood moon at Forbidden grove, walked to a door to imperial gardens and back, my blood moon left!

There is bug or something and they do not spawn in adventure mode currently even if you have blood moon so it's better to do them in story mode.

this is pretty annoying. got blood moon a few times but no wisps on my layout. I just wanna play summoner man

Rewinding PC clock after event starts, prolongs event by that amount of time. (Hunch due to kind anon remarking that stores restock when clock is forwarded by 1hr, so thanks.)

To easily farm this, go Faithless Thicket, and to The Lament entrance. There's 2 wisps that spawn pretty close to the door. Rinse and repeat.

PSA: If you are trying to farm the Root Wisps by exiting and re-entering the zone, be careful going through rectangular doors (i.e. main path doors) as I moved from Faithless Thicket to another main area (Twisted Chantry) and when I came back the blood moon was gone. The blood moon did however stay active when I used a rounded side dungeon door to leave and come back.

Side Tip, if you plant the THAEN SEED from the ORNATE LOCKBOX in the gardens in WARD 13 the people standing around will tell you from time to time that the sky is strange and everytime they said this is had a BLOODMOON in YAESHA. Not a 100% sure tho if these two are related or if this is just a coincidence.

                                        POSSIBLE FARM

My friend was able to get the wisps to respawn during a blood moon in Withering Weald by traveling through the doorway to Imperial Gardens and then back through to Withering Weald. He would just kill the two that spawn nearest to the door and then repeat the process. Hope this works for someone else!

                                        • Anonymous

For me blood wisps have been showing up in the Withering Weld for me. At first exploration (in adventure) there weren't any, but I went back because of the big bird and the wisps spawned in for me. After killing all enemies I would exit then reenter the map and wisps would respawn back on the map. There's no enemies since I didn't reset at the red crystal. I am able to get over 90. Farming more for scrap since fighting enemies are more annoying, but it is boring. Should get the cube gun if you plan on farming for a long time. Bullets are slow, but infinite ammo.

This is ridiculous. I have done about 7 hours of gameplay (running through 5 full Yaesha Adventure modes and also reloading the Far Woods by entering and exiting a dungeon/warping to Ward 13) trying to get my final 2 Blood Moon Essences to unlock the Summoner class. I just need one more Blood Moon, but nothing in 7+ hours.

Far Woods, mark my words, FAR WOODS.
Don't bother with any other zone. Me and my coop buddy spent hours scouring others zones with Blood Moons.

Not really sure if this actually does anything or not, but I feel that wearing the talisman of the sun makes blood moons spawn more often.

                                                • Anonymous

Adventure Mode - Yaesha - The Far Woods - One run through the map (carefully looking in every corner) got me 13 Blood Moon Essences. Very Possible to get more than the 3-4 like most YouTubes or Posts seem to state. My world build had the Nexus Root tree encounter in it aswell so not sure if that's relevant or not to increase it by this much. Will try to farm more and see if I can get similar numbers more times /C

                                                  • Anonymous

I tried to get a Blood Moon started for 3 hours yesterday with my friend in my party. We got one to spawn and could not find a single essence. We went through a dungeon (yellow door) and came back out and the blood moon ended. We gave up.

I came back an hour later by myself and after around 10 tries spawned one. I grabbed a few, then I went through a yellow dungeon door. I was getting 3-5 per each time I came back through the yellow door. I got about 20. Then the next time I came back through the door, the Blood Moon was gone.

Please be aware that a lot of advice people are giving out about how to start a blood moon is just a GUESS. The only factual things about this that I know is where people report the Blood Moon spawning. Also that teleporting from a different biome, the same biome, or through a dungeon room can trigger a Blood Moon. Sometimes you can go back and fourth through a dungeon door and keep respawning the essences. You can get them solo. You can get them with a party of two.

                                                    • Anonymous

Easiest way to do this is to go to the first map (was for me forbidden grove) and then go back and forth between the portal to the map and the Labyrinth. Keep going back and forth until the Blood Moon is triggered. Then kill all enemies on the map while looking for the purple flying orbs and shoot those. After doing this you walk to the end of the map, to a doorway to another map (like a dungeon, but not to the Labyrinth). Then walk back through the doorway and you have an empty map with respawned purple flying orbs. Now just explore and kill them and then reset through the doorway again.

                                                      • So it spawn in a place where you can see a big blue tree , it need to be dawn (Tree will look pink) , you can just change zone until it get that color.

Then when the right conditions are met , You need to search for purple wisp around the map and shoot them to automatically get the essence. No more than ten wisps spawn each time.
Can be found in both Campagn and Adventure Mode . It also respawn when you change zone so you can just use a door to farm thoses .

How are you supposed to get the blood moon to spawn? I have been porting back and forth to Yaesha Forbidden Grove for over an hour with no spawns!
