The Ruins is a Quest in Remnant 2. The Ruins automatically starts upon entering Ancient Canopy, a new location featured in The Forgotten Kingdom DLC. The player will be prompted to explore this new area and find out what they can about it. Quests are the different objectives and missions the player character must achieve to complete the game. Quests move the story forward, lead you from world to world, and make unknown Locations available. Some will also reward special Items or Weapons unique to them.

Remnant 2 The Ruins Walkthrough
The quest begins upon entering the new area in Ancient Canopy. You will find a Checkpoint right in the center. Proceed to the path ahead of you and make a left in front of the waterfall. Be careful of the stone constructs from here, as they appear to be inanimate but they will start moving as soon as you approach their zone. You can also start shooting them when you spot them so you gain the upper hand in combat. Continue exploring the narrow path that connects it to a bigger area.
You will find the stairs on the left corner and there's a chest at the end here. There are also 2 stone constructs waiting to ambush you when you open the chest. You can attack them first before you get near them. Then, walk to the left side of this area where you will fight more enemies. Keep pushing through and you will see a wide set of steps here, but don't go up yet. Go explore the right side here to retrieve the Kuri Kuri Egg from its nest. As you walk towards the wide area, the enemies will come to life and begin attacking you. Your objective here is to go to the nest found at the top of the steps.
You will find the last of the Kuri Kuri Egg among other destroyed shells. This is a quest item that you can use later on. For now, return to the objective at hand and walk back to the wide steps. More enemies are waiting for you here, always remember to approach slowly so you will activate a handful of them at a time. There's a checkpoint right ahead but before going there, explore the small area to your left to pick up a Tome of Knowledge, which grants you 1 Trait Point.
Next to the Checkpoint, you will find a Traveling Merchant named Ro'thinderahenwalt, or you can call him Walt. At first, he will try to dismiss you but keep talking to him and exhaust all of his dialogues so you can access his items for sale. During this conversation, he will also inform you that he found proof that the lost tribe of the Pan does exist and that he has found the location of their civilization. After this, you can now purchase his items like Burden of the Mesmer and Ravager's Bargain.
When you talk to him again, you can ask him about the mural that he was looking at earlier. He will tell you that it is a gift from the lost tribe of the Pan, which is proof of their existence. He believes that his tribe's ship was separated from the others when escaping the plague ravaging their homeland and that they landed here, in the Ancient Canopy and redefined their way of living to survive. However, he tells you that he's still piecing together their past and can't continue the story.
Begin exploring the area below you. You can jump across the tower or use the ladder from where you're standing. As you gaze into this area below you, you will start a new quest, The Ziggurat. As you head further below, you will reach an altar-like area where enemies are waiting to ambush you. After eliminating them, walk towards the open area until you see a distant waterfall to the left. You will be fighting a Charred Sentry here. You can pick up a Pressure Point and other rewards after defeating it.
Leave this area and go back up to climb the structure built on the tree. You will see this right next to the waterfall and you can access it by going up the steps below it. Use the ladder at the bottom of the structure and then cross the wooden bridge connecting it to a gazebo. There are also enemies waiting here, so walk carefully. Behind this gazebo, you will find another bridge that connects it to another gazebo. Look for a chest in one of the corners to obtain a Sweet Leaf.
Then, continue to the wooden bridge up ahead that connects it to the next tree. Look for a ladder near the bridge that leads to the lower area. There's another wooden bridge here that connects it to a tree. You can pick up the Matriarch's Ring from a body here. Then head back up, and continue the path to reach the Deserted Atelier.
Deserted Atelier
Upon entering, you will find the area filled with red glowing plants. There's also a checkpoint right in front of you here. Make sure to activate it before proceeding. The path ahead is straightforward, except you're going to need to jump on platforms. After a while, you will reach the bigger section here. Follow the path to the right which will lead to an altar. You can pick up the Token of Favor at the foot of this altar to the right. After that, continue exploring by going to the left side. You will go up some steps and reach a statue. Jump down on the area behind it and follow the path ahead. Once you reach the area where the path splits into two, follow the one to your right to reach the checkpoint before the area boss.
After activating the checkpoint, continue walking until you reach the white mist indicating the boss area. The Cinderclad Monolith is a huge boss that can shoot out projectiles in multiple directions. It can fire out chunks of rock or a laser-like type of attack. You can dodge these attacks by rolling against its path. Eliminating this boss will reveal a path to the exit.
Back to Ancient Canopy
After defeating the Cinderclad Monolith, you will find an exit to the Ancient Canopy. There is a checkpoint ahead of you and you can see Walt standing in front of another mural. You can ask him the story that he has discovered here and he will tell you about how Thalos survived the plague by hearing an "unusual sound" coming from the ground underneath. He believes that Thalos followed the sound and located the Goddess of Stone, Lydusa. She offered to cure him and the means to cure others in exchange for a year of companionship. During that time, the plague ravaged what remains of his tribe but he was able to save the others who stayed alive after a year.
Thalos continued to serve and his tribe prospered. He was granted an unusually long life and he ruled for several prosperous centuries. This led to the Pan worshipping their new goddess and they built a temple to sing their praises to her. Later on, the pan learned the ways of the goddess and gained small power over living stones. After this conversation, walk toward the edge and pull on the lever. This will open the door on the steps behind you. Inside, you will find another lever to activate the elevator. Wait for it to arrive then ride it to reach the lower levels.
This will give you access to the broken bridge located to the left. As you walk along the bridge, more stone constructs will come to life. They will be attacking you as soon as you come near them so try to walk slowly and eliminate them as you go so you will not be overwhelmed. Before entering the dungeon, locate the chest on your left. You can eliminate all enemies here of you can escape to the next area, The Bloodless Throne.
The Bloodless Throne
Upon entering, The Ziggurat quest will be marked as completed. In the distance, a tall stone statue in the middle of this area can be seen. Walk towards it and the broken bridge will rebuild itself. As you get closer, a cutscene will begin playing. You will begin a conversation with what remains of Lydusa, a shatter-split. She will tell you that she has placed a curse upon you, the touch of Lydusa. She will tell you how the hoofed beasts stole from her, and that she lost her "precious thing". She will ask you to return it to her so she can free you from the curse.
The end of this conversation will mark The Ruins as completed and will begin the next quest Cursed.
