The Handler is an Archetype in Remnant 2. The Handler brings a Dog Companion to the fight, and many of his abilities revolve around it. Handlers can determine the nature of the dog by using one of the three skills. While playing Multiplayer, the Handler is a support Class, that may assist the team granting diffferent kinds of buffs. Archetypes can be considered the different Classes available in-game. Players' Archetype choice at the beginning of the game is important, but they can change them to another one later on by using another Archetype's item if they so desire.

Remnant 2 Handler Notes & Trivia

The Handler is constantly followed by a Dog Companion with the following properties:

  • The Dog will never die. Once its hp reach 0, he'll be indefinitely downed until you "revive" him.
    • Reviving the dog benefits from the Teamwork perk, but it doesn't cost a Relic charge.
    • The Dog will revive itself once the fight is over.
  • The Dog heals itself when out of combat. Interacting with him heals him faster.
  • The Dog inflicts a 5 seconds BLEEDING to the enemies he hits. While the bleeding damage is neglectible, it can synergise with Status Effect-related equipment
  • When the dog is on "defense mode" (double tapping a skill), he will stick to you and only attack enemies that get too close.
    • An icon on the top-left of the HUD, behind the Dog's healthbar, indicates if the dog is on attack mode or defense mode.
    • You can use the basic commands of a skill (single press and double tap) even when it's on cooldown.
  • The Dog counts as a Summon for the purposes of Amulets & Rings.
    • However, since the Dog cannot be summoned, certain abilities and effects that activate "on summon" (such as the Soul Anchor Amulet) do not work in conjunction with the Dog Companion. (further testing may be required)
  • The Dog gains increased health per difficulty.
  • The Companion Howl size is affected by Aura size increase.

The ultimate all-around class. If you are ever in doubt about what to slot as a secondary archetype, handler is literally NEVER a bad option. However, this also means handler is an underwhelming class to center a build around, and as such you should always ask "how can handler improve what I have" and not "what can I use to improve handler".

Honestly a very good secondary Archetype for Engineer. Even without the Attack Dog, you still get a lot of Skill damage and Skill crit chance.

What dogs do y'all use? I mostly use the Guard Dog since it makes the dog more durable and the extra threat generation takes heat off of my other summons (Root Flyers). Plus, the howl makes the whole team more robust.

Sometimes I switch it up with Attack Dog though, since I have a lot of healing methods (Lifeless Heart + relic perk, Healing Shot) + Triage. Against weaker mobs, the best defense is a good offense!

The self-revive apparently does not work with tranquil heart. Which makes sense since it does not give any health, only health regen. I assume the other non-healing hearts are the same.

I think a missed opportunity for the Handler, would have been given the dog different outfits based on the other archetype you choose. Challenger would give the dog metal plate vest, medic gives the dog a a Medic backpack, summoner would have the dog covered in root armor, and so forth. I could go on and on how cool that be, but it might be easier said then done. I still like the class though!

so what exactly does work for handler?
Is it summon dmg only? skill dmg?
I want to maximize my dog and the summons from the summoner...

Small but annoying bug to look out for when playing Handler (On Xbox at least):
Be careful when you issue commands to your little Fur Missle. Sometimes, when you get staggered in the middle of issuing a command, the skill will permanently grey out and you will no longer be able to use howl commands. Fixed by resting at a World Stone.

I don't if the class is good or bad I want to know if there is any armor or clothes that the dog can wear I want and where to find It.

The Kinship trait is NOT global damage reduction. Its just friendly fire damage reduction! In the game the wording is "Reduces Friendly Fire Damage Dealt and Received by XX%" 80% at max. - Source: am lvl 10 handler :)

good luck on last boss playing as handler - doge cannot attack, doge cannot be redirected to safe zone, doge dies all the time and you will be unable to use skills.. so wellmade archetype - tears will be shed

I'm going to start with this Class, then name my goodest boi "Buffett", then we're going to go around the different planes of existence together in a wonderful survival adventure AND NO ONE CAN STOP US!!!
